Pottery Clay - 25 lb Terra Cotta Low Fire Cone 06 Red - Rocky Mountain Clay's Red Rock Red Clay

This clay is perfect. Easily workable, it air dries to a pottery-like finish with a pinkish hue and it doesn't crack or split. It can be baked on low heat, and painted and glazed. It also doesn't have the earthy dirt smell you get from some natural clays. This is the only brand I will buy going forward.

Needed red terra cotta clay for a Walstad aquarium.It was hard to find it in local craft stores in a non air-dry clay formula. Air dry versions have potentially toxic additives to make them harden just by air exposure instead of by being fired. The clay is rolled into 1/2 inch balls and these are inserted 1 inch apart into the organic potting soil before the gravel/sand cap is added. It is to add supplemental iron for the plant roots. I was very grateful to find this lovely clay here on Amazon and it hopefully suited my purposes. It needed to be red (higher iron) and this seemed a tad more on the brown side of red, so I hope its OK.

This is a great low fire clay, but as is expected from this type of clay it can be more brittle than other clays

It was soft when it arrived and has no imperfections so far. More than I expected after looking at some reviews saying otherwise

I am so excited, this order was not due to arrive for another week or so. Packaged well, I dont plan on using this quickly or immediately so I was concerned about the condition the clay would arrive in (broken bag and drying) but my order came in great shape. I will definitely use this vendor in the future and can not wait to get my hands into this.

Not what I expected, little high priced for how much you get

I was absolutely thrilled to get this because I’ve been watching a lot of survival videos and I decided to build a kill them by hand…… Works great for this purpose however, I am impatient and did not wait long enough for the clay to dry properly and literally all of the clay I fired exploded 😭😭
