Moeller Marine, Below Deck Permanent Fuel Tank, for Boats Built Before 2011

I could not find an origional Coast Guard Approved marine gas tank for my 1968 Johnson Seasport 155, so I decided to tripple measure the space available,and decided on this 12 gallon Moeller model. The origional cube metal tank held 15 gal, but rusted out. This tank fit in the origional location under the front bow seats deck, but I had to make an extra 1/2 foot longer wooden extension box to cover the tanks rectangular shape. The mounting clamps worked like a charm, the plumbing & wiring was straight forward----best of all, now the boats origional fuel gauge works, and wide open throttle--without starving out for fuel (per factory specs) are above 35mph as long as fuel lasts ! I can again, at a glance, do what I was taught while attending the Boating Safety course given by the U S Coast Guard; Use 1/3 of fuel to get there, 1/3 to get back & 1/3 in reserve ! I would not hesitate to buy Moeller products again & recomend them hands down. Hal J, San Francisco Calif Bay Area.

Very nice fuel tank with great attention to detail on the filler and vent connections, vent fits 5/8" tubing. fill is a 1/4" npt connection. Comes with a fuel level float and sending unit. The hold down kit works great with this unit, I wire wheeled the hold down brackets to get rid of the sharp spots, mounts solidly in place. recommend 3 strips of rubber under the tank to stop potential rubbing. Really cant go wrong with this tank.

Like reviewer thtguy above, I was confused by the name plate on the tank. “Diesel” has been ground off, leaving “gasoline” only. I wonder if this is simply because the tank doesn’t have a fuel return fitting? Moeller does list an optional tank level float sensor that incorporates a diesel return, but this won’t work for me because I need to use my existing Maretron ultrasonic level sensor. Good luck trying to reach Moeller with questions. The so-called customer service number listed on their website went straight to voicemail and gave a company name that wasn’t Moeller. Otherwise this appears to be a strong, well built tank. Moeller makes an amazing variety of size and shape variations to fit almost any boat. But they need to do better for diesel customers,

I am very pleased with my new fuel tank. I replaced a portable tank on my pontoon boat with this fixed tank with a fuel gauge (Yay) They have a good selection of sizes and this one worked perfectly for me. Bought their mounting hardware and was simple to install.

I actually bought this tank as a retrofit to an old boat I bought this year. The boat was originally equipped with a 6 gallon portable tank that you had to take out of the boat to fill and the only fuel gauge was on the fill cap. With a 90hp outboard, I only got about 35 miles on a full tank. I bought this tank, a fuel gauge, exterior fill cap, and a vent, and made my own permanent fuel system. Very happy with this tank. I am glad I decided on this one, all sealed up with the sender already installed. Made it really easy to just put everything in place, plumb the fuel lines, and wire the gauge.

Tank was exactly as expected, easy install, rugged, and suited my needs perfectly.

This 6 gallon tank we connected to our new boat Generator which is right next to it. We had a problem drawing gas from the main gas tanks of the boat( weak pump? not intended for 10+ feet of gasoline 1/4 hose ? ) to our new Generator and couldn't figure out the problem and neither could the Manufacturer ( Westerbeke ). So we decided to install a new gas tank right next to the Generator and it works fine. With six gallons of gas, this 5KW Generator can run all day, so we solved the problem without getting into numerous complications, such as auxiliary pumps etc.. etc..
