A crucial staple of my mental health
Tyrosine is a precursor to dopamine. When you have anxiety, your dopamine is low. When your dopamine is low, your entire experience of life leans toward preparing for danger. Creativity and motivation decrease, sleep and digestion worsen, and the ability to plan far into the future is severely limited. While taking tyrosine is not a cure for anxiety, it raises my dopamine enough to make dealing with life’s demands easier, as I slowly do the work to heal the trauma causing my anxiety. As with most NOW products, this one is an excellent value for the money.

Amazing Focus
Gives you extra energy and focus, especially when paired with a caffeine and L-Theanine stack combo. It works great alone as well! Just avoid taking within 6 hours of bed-time. It can keep you up (regardless of taking it with a caffeine or not).

Quality of Life
L-Tyrosine is an amino acid which can be an essential part of mood stabilization for some people. The quality must be good because it gets the job done! This bottle of 300 Veg Capsules is a great value compared to smaller bottles available locally. I'm so glad that Amazon carries it.

Quality
Great alternative to the one I was out of from Biotics research. The shipping from Biotics research overnight was going to be over $60.

Using this to treat anxiety (for ADD) and also anxiety in my dog!!!
This amino acid is recommended by Dr. Daniel Amen in his book, Healing ADD for treating several types of ADD. As an adult who realized that I probably deal with that, and *never* wanting to take any of the prescriptions commonly doled out for that, I thought I'd give L-Tyrosine a try. Reading up on it, I learned that this amino acid "fights" with other amino acids for which ones get to cross the blood-brain barrier, and so the BEST way to take this for maximum absorption (and therefore maximum efficacy) is in the morning on an empty stomach. AND -- I have to say, I DO notice a difference in my anxiety levels when I take this. In other words, I feel more in control / less anxious / more calm. That brings me to talking about my dog. We have an older female dog who became super anxious last year after our older male dog died. Without her "alpha," she really became "lost" and started exhibiting all sorts of neurosis. She began chewing on herself, scratching her fur off, all sorts of neurotic behavior she NEVER displayed previously. The vet put her on some anxiety meds that were rather spendy ... a tad TOO spendy. BEcause of the exorbitant cost, we switched her over to Prednisone, which helped, but it's really not good for the body long term. SO - I did some research and found that clinical trials showed success using L-Tyrosine treating dogs for anxiety!!! And so .... I started giving my dog this L-Tyrosine 2x daily. AND -- It worked!!! A natural solution, and a whole lot less expensive, too.I suppose with both of my examples I ought to cover my cute little bottom by saying, "These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration." and "This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease." There. Now ya'll can't sue me, plus some committee in the behemoth we call Government will be happy that their jobs were justified because I quoted them. But in all seriousness, I've had really good results from this product and I highly recommend it for reducing anxiety -- in both humans AND dogs. Check with your doctor, of course, before taking any supplements.

Helps with energy levels in a healthy way without side effects.
My friend told me about how she started taking L-tyrosine per her holistic practitioner for her thyroid. She was taking 1-2 a day and didn’t notice a difference so one day she took 8! & she felt the fog in her head leave her. So I thought I would try it and just take 5 in the morning. I don’t drink high amounts of caffeine, maybe a little in my decaf coffee here and there, mostly decaf black tea or herbal teas daily.I have noticed there is a difference in my mental clarity when I take this. If I’m feeling the clarity is low in the afternoon I’ll take 4-5.A couple months ago my friend who has HLHS (half of her heart is underdeveloped since birth). She is very healthy and takes lots of vitamins and her meds. She often gets tired. So I gave her 4 and she said she had clarity the whole day (I got married so it was a busy day!) and she doesn’t drink caffeine ever. When she came for a visit last weekend she had some on a very tiring day and said it helped her. It’s cool to have those stories. It doesn’t have the same effect when you take an “upper”. It’s an amino acid you actually need & it helps with brain function and thyroid.Definitely check with your doctor or holistic practitioner before using any supplements. I do dental hygiene and I really like health and learning about the benefits or taking supplements as our diets are really lacking what God intended our foods to originally have from the beginning. I really like learning that supplements may help. I have a lot of dietary restrictions and I eat mostly vegan, so I need help in many areas. From taking this and the other vitamins I take including a low dose iron, I do not crave red meat any more and try to get what I can from my food choices too.

Tried it for sleep
I read about some people trying this to help them sleep. I decided to give it a try and it really has helped with sleep and there are no side effects as those caused by melatonin. I am now on my second bottle and will continue taking one capsule a couple hours before bed!

Not my personal preference
Have been in stimulants since I was 13. Was tired of being up later than I wanted to be (from my afternoon dose) but wanted to remain focused. My doc told me to try this instead of the afternoon stimulant. Put me right to sleep, almost felt similar to Benadryl. Works wonders for some, just not my thing.
