Good grease
I saw some dissenting info on this stuff so thought i'd give my two bits. Saw that it would darken lighter leather. I applied to my Red Wing 8111 Iron Rangers and it did darken them a bit but in a good way to me. It definitely softened the leather and absorbed well into boots that hadn't been treated in over a year. Leaves a nice matte finish which i also liked. I would say this tube could treat a pair of boots about 20-30 times depending on how thirsty the leather is. I also treated a pair of black Wolverine 1000 Mile boots that are my daily work boots behind a bar. I was more liberal in their application because they're black and wasn't worried about darkening them. Will report back on water-resistance as this was a factor in choosing Huberd's. I found applying with rubber gloved hands to be way more effective than a cloth. Cheers and happy booting.

Best waterproofing and conditioning for leather shoes!
Well, I LOVE this product and have been using it for a few years, but somehow it managed to come without a cap, so I can’t open the tube, cuz I have no way to close it again. Pretty disappointed about that. But you should totally buy this product, it’s amazing. It will darken light colored leathers, so be warned. But I used it on my light-colored Ariat boots, and I actually prefer the darker color that they turned after applying this product. It says that it shouldn’t be used on suede, but I used it on the shaft of those boots, which is suede, and it turned out completely fine. It keeps my feet dry, even in deep mud and manure on a horse ranch during a rainy winter. I’ll never use anything else for waterproofing my leather shoes. This stuff is the best!

Wonderful conditioner for your leather goods
Huberd's grease is a wonderful overall leather conditioner.boots, coats, vests, pants, skirts, kilts, gloves, hats, etc. I have found Huberd's to be wonderful in most all applications where leather needs conditioning. You just clean the leather first and put on a thin coat and let it absorb. For very dry leather you may need to add more than one tin layer. This is a standard item in my kit, although I mostly use the Huberd's in a tin. (This is the same product, just in a tube)The campfire smell is amazing.caution when using on lighter colored leathers as it could darken them or it could add a slight yellow tint on white leather.

Huberts vs Saddlesoap
I’ve had the same pair of Doc Martens for 27 years and decided to try Huberts instead of Saddlesoap. It works in fairly well, definitely made the boots dark again, got rid of a lot of the scuffs and marks. I think if you’re looking for something to brighten or give luster to your leather boots, stick with Saddlesoap. If you’re looking for a quick polish and waterproofing, Huberts is it.

Great Stuff
This product has been around for a very long time, it is great. It was recommended to me by the guy who use to resole my boots when I worked at our family feed and fertilizer business 40 years ago. I didn't know they even still made this stuff, I was excited when I stumbled across it here on Amazon. Ordered this for my dad, and a larger quantity in a can for myself. Makes your work boots last a lot longer, keeps the leather soft and healthy, also protects the leather, and makes them weather resistant to water. Can't go wrong here, GREAT STUFF!!!

Good product. Works on carved pieces.
This product worked wonders for putting a nice waterproof soak on a leather mask i carved. This means dyed veg-tan.I typically use neatsfoot oil, but i read some good reviews. It works well. It doesn't smell awful. It is easy to apply. The reason i am knocking off a star is because some impact during shipping broke the box and caused the crimped end to come somewhat undone so that about a teaspoon oozed out. That's not awful, but the crimping either should have been better or it should have been put in more substantial packaging to protect it.

If you don't mind...
If you don't mind to have a darker color, this product is great.

Great on non-dress shoes and fancy boots
What a wonderful retro product and packaging. Good waterproofing on work shoes, but will darken the tone of dress shoes, so use galoshes in such a case.
