Surprise Ending--it didn't end...
I have really enjoyed every one of Michael Baron's books. This one left me slightly disappointed compared to the others. I did not realize it was going to be a continued series till I got to the end of the book, so all the characters are kind of left hanging with no one storyline completed. The characters are good and you feel like you want to know them better but they don't get a chance in this book. Mr. Baron writes at the end that he himself is just getting know them, perhaps he should have better developed his characters before trying to sell the books. I feel as if this is a case of a publisher pushing for another quick read rather then the authors own inspired contribution of a really well thought out well written book.

A good read
This author spins a good story. This one about a family in transition and heading toward new experiences in life. The characters have very distinct personalities and their life situations are similar to real life. While there are a lot of relationship issues and quite a bit of sexual situations, it is handled fairly well by the author. As it said in the synopsis of the book, fans of Nicholas Sparks will more than likely like this novel also.

Family dynamics
I loved the family dynamics in this book. Coming from a large family myself, I enjoy reading about the way brothers & sisters grow together as adults. Sometimes the brother you were closest to when younger, may live a totally different lifestyle than you as an adult. & that bratty little brother marries someone who becomes a true "sister" in your adult life.

Follow the Gold Family
I love stories following families. This is the first book about the Gold family, as they prepare to sell the family Inn after the deaths of their parents. Each of the siblings has his/her own personality and story, but they are linked by the Inn that will no longer be part of their lives. The story ends on a cliff-hanger that makes you want the next book sooner rather than later.

Good book-bad ending
Liked the book and the character development but the ending was a big disappointment. Even with the explanation that there are more books coming it could have ended this first "chapter" more complete without so many questions hanging.

Rake Away
We both read this and enjoyed it. The family interaction and the results make the story. I felt apart of it, became interested in the outcome, which I beleive could lead to a second book.

Leaving the Inn
A well written story that was enjoyable to read as each of thecharacters developed and culminated in the last Halloween party before new owners moved into the Oldham Inn.

An interesting family story
This story about adult children and their interactions is interesting. My only problem was the ending seemed to leave me hanging. I suspect that was to entice me to read the sequels.

The story line and its relationship to leaves is not evident. Kind of a meandering slow read. Inns and autumn in Vermont kind of thing.
