Best Thumb Tape: Weightlifting and Crossfit
I know there are a lot of tape companies out there. A LOT. I get that. I have even used a few of them. However, when you find something you like keep it, buy it in bulk, and tell all of your friends! I have been using Liftgenie for over a year now. A friend used it and let me use some when my thumb was hurting during hook grip. Right after we finished lifting I went online and bought 3 rolls. I like this tape because it stays well and keeps the bar from slipping as I don't usually use chalk. I started to love this tape when the company proved over and over that it was really easy to work with and super friendly. The tape doesn't leave sticky stuff after you remove it. It works and feels great. Never too tight, never too loose. I suggest you buy it because you won't regret it.

THREE WRAPS
If used correctly, this is fantastic. This took me some trial and error:If you wrap this twice over your thumb, it will slip pretty easily. Three times and it shifts a little and sets in place. I use this to deadlift, and can pull sets of 5 without excessive slippage, which is wonderful. Even pulled 405 with hook grip for the first time today. It does restrict blood flow a little, but squeezing your thumb a couple of times between sets helps a ton with this. Also, don't forget to bend your thumb as you wrap around the back so it doesn't turn into a cast holding your thumb straight.

NOT for sweaty hand/fingers
Reeeeally wanted to like this tape. Especially because it’s PINK!! But unfortunately tape did nothing for me. I do compete in oly lifting and have training sessions that last about 1-1 1/2 hours. Between the constant hook gripping and having EXTREMELY sweaty hands, I need something that will last (so sweaty that I have to vigorously chalk up every time I touch the bar) But I was finding myself having to stop during training to re-tape. In one particularly long day I had to re-tape 3X and almost injured myself during a heavy clean when the tape slipped off my thumb while I was hook gripping the bar (super scary). Thumbs Up tape is waaaay more sticky and doesn’t roll up or bunch up.

Favorite!!
Liftgenie is by far my favorite thumb tape! You do not need a lot of layers for comfort and the width is perfect to cover the entire thumb. I live in Louisiana where it is very humid, so past tapes that I've tried slid off and I would have to replace mid-training. Liftgenie will stay in place for my 2-hour sessions. My thumbs no longer feel bruised so my clean and snatch pulls have greatly improved.I've even used Liftgenie to tape my pull-up bar for CrossFit wods because I refuse to use grips. :)*Bonus: So many awesome colors to choose from. I can't wait to try purple!

Good quality, but expensive & gonna go fast.
I like cushy feel on the bar. Sticks on well. Just wish it weren’t that wide. I have small hands, and it covers my finger tips, which I need to grip. I end up having to roll down a little, which creates an uncomfortable bulge. Pretty expensive for the size of roll. Use about three to four times a week, and I’m almost done with first roll. It’s gonna go fast.

Pretty good tape
Edit: After using the rest of the tape in my first pack, I have found a way to make the tape work for me. I like this tape enough that I bought it a second time instead of searching more brands for more tape. Worth it in my opinion.Previous: I bought this tape becuase they marketed it well. It is the 3rd brand of tape I have tried and it is by far the worst performing that I have used. I have tried numerous ways to try to keep it from slipping/bunching up, but this tape always slowly slips down my thumb as I lift. This tape may work well if you dont sweat or dont lift heavy but with what I do I am not happy with it. The one thing I liked was that this tape came with a decent amount of it, now it's unfortunate because I want to use it before I order more as I'm budget conscious. I will be looking elsewhere on my next tape purchase.

Your Thumbs Will Thank You!
I am a competitive weightlifter at a relatively high level. I have used several different tapes in the past, and Lift Genie is hands down the best. It is wider than other tapes, the flexibility is much better than standard tape, and the adhesive is great. Lift Genie tape is the official tape of USA Weightlifting. If you are a weightlifter, crossfitter, or powerlifter who hookgrips deadlifts, this tape is a must. The tape protects your thumbs and reduces sensitivity to hookgripping. Like me, once you use it, you will never lift without it again. Highly recommended.Pro Tip: Combine the super sticky adhesive of Lift Genie with a taping base like tough skin, and this tape goes no where! One application lasts the entirety of 3+hr training sessions over dozens of sets and reps. Lift Genie, how about coming out with your own taping base!?

Not as good as normal
The other colors have been slightly better. The black and gold has very poor adhesion in July/ August, the tape itself has frayed/ bunched on numerous occasions, and the image of the genie... well, I've been asked if it is several other things (not a factor in the rating, but odd). I'll probably try them again if another color is in stock or if I need tape in the cooler months, but I may just switch brands
