How many can vouch for the durability of these boxes? Will they hold if packed with, say, candles?

I’m using them for random items fragile or not heavy and light they work great. I weighed all 200+ boxes I bought from them and the heaviest is 38lbs. In my opinion I was stay below 35lbs. I’m using the 18”L x 15”W x 14”H (Medium). Only 15 boxes were cut improperly by manufacturer but they do replace orders.

Can these boxes be broken down after the move for easy storage?

Yes - I haven't done so with these, yet, but will eventually. I've done it with other banker boxes. I don't break down the lids, though, because I think it will weaken them. You could - but you might need to reinforce them. The tab might not stay inside the slot firmly after being assembled, disassembled, and then reassembled again. These are really great boxes. Pro-tip for putting the lids together: When the edges fold over and tuck into the slots, it's quicker and easier to put the double fold in before you actually bend it over to assemble. (The double fold is actually where you have two folds right next to each other about 1/4 inch apart.) If when you make the bend during assembly you don't get both the folds to form, the tab doesn't go into the slot properly. Taking the extra 5 seconds to make the fold saves frustration and gives you a really strong lid.

What if it rains when they get delivered? Will the boxes be ruined?

the boxes came flat packed in cardboard so yes you wouldnt want them sitting in the rain.
