Lovely book
Although a little outdated, Laura Ashley can still work anywhere you want that country look. The book is full of beautiful pictures to inspire and lots of history to read along.

Laura Ashley Guide to Country Decorating: A Global Perspective of What ‘Country’ Is
I’ve got to say it: Tell me that a Laura Ashley book, piece of clothing, or houseware item is for sale, and I’m the first in line! I can’t put this book down. Every photo is expertly staged and elicits amazement and awe in how the spirit of the photos of these global homes come to life AND their ideas can be mixed and matched.A nook, a corner, a framed outside view seen from an inside screen door - all bring up the feeling of tradition in which the home and its contents are made – not bought. The reader can mix and match with this book: he/ she can take something from one scene and mix it with others, to create a truly unique home and color scheme. In this book, look at the walls, windows, and ceilings, for example. Note their textures, colors, and how natural light affects them all. Then, add in fabrics and patterns (old and new) to add to this feeling. This 1992 hard-cover book with dust jacket has 208 semi-glossy pages, crammed with multiple color photos on each page. This book has 3 authors: Lorrie Mack, Lucinda Edgerton, and Jane Newdick. The publisher is Weidenfeld and Nicolson, London. This book has 4 main Sections – the homes themselves. Buy the book to see all of the beautiful sub-Sections.Section 1: Introducing the Country LookSection 2: Designing the Country LookSection 3: Creating the Country LookSection 4: Accessorizing the Country LookFollowing these, there are:a. Laura Ashley Shops around the Worldb. Acknowledgementsc. IndexNote that Sections 2 and 3 teach the buyer how to design and create looks for thei own homes. This is just a tidbit to help the buyer begin his/ her journey into creating country décor for themselves.Like most Laura Ashley book, this one belongs on the bookshelves of all people who admire and buy the Laura Ashley brand. However, like I do with all of my Laura Ashley books, I keep them stacked on my coffee table to page through, dream, and get new ideas.

Drab and Uninspiring
I fell in love with the Laura Ashley of the 80s. Her floral textiles would be the definition of today's shabby chic. I wasn't able to see inside this book until I owned it, and I'm quite disappointed. I saw her original textiles in a lampshade on page 105 and a hot mit on page 135. I thought her bright and lively patterns would be throughout the book. Instead the photography is dark with drab textiles and in many cases, creepy accents. I want to return the book.

If you enjoy doing crafty things etc
this was not what i was hoping for .....but it is now added to my design book collection. If you enjoy doing crafty things etc, then you will probably love this style. THe decorating style is a little to "barren" and "simple" for my personal tastes.
