Overall these knives are an excellent value for the money paid. Of course they aren't as nice or sturdy as name brand knives, but at a fraction of the price of the name brand these are very nice. I personally think the wood choice for the handles and the block is very attractive and the steel came very sharp. I've only been using them for a week, so I'm not sure about longevity or rusting in the long run, but so far they do everything that I need a kitchen knife set to do! I think the sharpening rod and scissors are as nice as any I've used before, and I find the rest of the assorted knives useful for the things I do. Overall, when you remember that you're getting a full knife set for only $65, you will be very happy with this set. I would buy them again!

I waited to write a review until I've had a reasonable amount of time to use these knives and test their durability and reliability. I've come to the conclusion these knives rank right up there with some of the more 'professional' brand knives I've used. Having been a Chef who owned a catering business, I can tell you I've gone through my fair share of knives. Some great and some not so great. These knives easily fall into the great category. Out of the box they are extremely sharp, very balanced and feel comfortable in the hand and the block, which from what I can see is a mahogany stained block, is beautiful and blends well with surrounding kitchen decor. I mainly use the Chef and Sankotu knives and they've stood up to rigorous use with minimal sharpening. I think I've only had to sharpen the Chef knife a couple times. I haven't needed to sharpen the Sankotu yet but I'm sure I will soon. As with all knives should be, I only hand wash them and do not use the dishwasher so that reduces the chances of them becoming dull or even warped as knives tend to do if washed in the dishwasher. I can't say enough positive things about how they feel in the hand. They're are very, well balanced and feel like they 'fit' in your palm as an extension of your hand and I've never had a problem with unbalanced slipping or off cuts which is extremely important when you're trying to make 1/4 dices or julienne cuts. Being as sharp and smooth as they are, chiffonading is a breeze and so is everything else. I even use the Chef knive for dicing and slicing when I don't want to dirty the Sankotu which also slices through even the toughest root vegetable like they're butter. The smaller 'steak knives' have done exactly as I expected them to and make cutting through steaks (even tough roast) like it was all spam. Truth be told, I was hesitant on purchasing these knives because I'm wary of brands I've never used or have a chance to 'test fit' by handling the knives in-person as you one obviously can't do online. I'm very, very glad I chose to purchase this set! These knives have far exceeded my expectations and more! In short BUY THESE KNIVES! You will NOT be disappointed!

I bought a 36 foot travel trailer and wanted a knife set for the trailer, but was not willing to buy a full Henkel set of knives. So, I ordered this set after reading several reviews and here is what I found: 1. This is definitely a very dark wood set, almost black. On a dark counter they almost disappear. 2. The shanks of the knives extend beyond by edges of the handle slightly. This makes for a sharp feeling edge of metal along the handle. While it will not cut you, you do get your skin caught against it so definitely feel it. 3. The blades also have a rough feel to the edges. Feels like stamped metal that has not been polished down. It would be difficult to do now with the handles attached. 4. The knife sharpening tool is needed as these knives are not all that sharp. Once sharpened, they hold an edge ok. Not as long as my other knives, but better than some others that I have tried. 5. With the wood handles, I would NEVER put these in a dishwasher!!! These are a hand wash only in my opinion. All in all, for the price, these are a decent set of knives. They are just fine for my RV and would be a welcome addition to a home where there are a few hodge podge knives thrown in a drawer. Good range of knife types. I would recommend these as a first time knife set or as a set for a cabin or travel trailer.

I gifted this set to my parents for Christmas. They have been using the same knives for many years and I thought it would be a thoughtful gift. Sure enough, they loved it! When unboxing, these knives were very sharp and came with a block that had a nice, dark wood finish. It looked great on the countertop. This set also comes with everything a usual kitchen would need. I love that it comes with all its steak knives! We were excited to use this set on Christmas and are happy to have it for future family gatherings. Great job, ESMK!

High quality, sharp, carbon stainless steel, kitchen knives in a Cherry storage box that matches my Cherry cabinets with cherry colored/stained handles!!! Careful - these babies are SHARP. The handle curve is quite comfortable and have three (rivets) to secure them to the blade. The bone shear sissors, and the manual sharpening post were very important additions to the knives. Always HAND WASH and DRY with a storage box put-away and this collection will probably be the last set you ever buy. Can't wait to donate my old dullards to the local thrift store. (won't miss them at all)

I am happy with my knives, as they are pretty and as pictured, and quite sharp. However, I was disappointed that one of the key features is missing from this item. I bought this set specifically for its "self sharpening for chef knife" feature. Unfortunately, this is absent from my set. There is no built-in sharpener in either of the large slots that the chef knife would fit. I do not know if it is a defect, or just false claims, but it is disappointing. UPDATE: I am changing my review to 5 stars from 3 because the seller contacted me and apologized for the misinformation and changed the product description to "manual sharpening," as well as provided me a partial refund.

This knife set was given as a gift and it was better than expected both in appearance and overall quality.

Great knives. Hold their edge. Warning however handles do come loose in dishwasher so only hand wash

Not sure these are worth the cost. Nice looking set and had a lot of blades and the scissors are good but the handles and blade tangs are not perfectly matched. Their's rough edges around the seems between the tang and wood on the handles. All the blades are fairly thin. I have a forged set from Costco that were half the cost and better made. The wood block had marks on it. I would have returned them if it wasn't such a pain to do so.
