SunSmart Pro DSLR Follow Focus With Gear Ring Belt for DSLR cameras and Camcorders (F4 With Two Hard Stops)

After having returned a cheaper follow focus which was not fit for purpose at all, I was delighted to get this little baby. Solidly made and adaptable to fitting well, it performed smoothly mounted to a GH4 with a 12-35mm lens. Might be tricky with a shorter lens body. Others have commented that screws are difficult to manipulate, but I found they were relative easy because with most rig set-ups there are little problems or frustrations to overcome. A little patience set it up perfectly.18months later: Has worked very well but noticed the damping 'grease' is oozing out of the flange bit and making everything sticky, have to clean it with lighter fuel. Shame.

Performs exactly as expected. No complaints atball

Producto comprado para regalar a un profesional de la fotografía y el video, que se ha sorprendido (siempre teniendo en cuenta el precio del artículo) con la calidad del producto tanto a nivel estético (no presenta aspecto frágil ni plasticoso), como de funcionamiento (incluye incluso dos stops, algo muy practico). Si no le he dado cinco estrellas ha sido por su empaquetado, teniendo en cuenta que había sido comprado para regalar (caja blanca genérica sin precinto alguno y el sobre de burbujas que rodeaba como protección al follow -focus presentaba restos de algo pegajoso, por lo que hubo casi que despegarlo del artículo). Pese a ello, hecho que no me hubiese importado si lo hubiese comprado para mí, ya que no faltaban piezas y no ha dado problema alguno de funcionamiento por el momento, recomiendo, sin duda, su compra.

Existen muchos productos similares. Al final me elegí este por los ajustes de entrada y salida para el contro del foco.Es magnífico poder utilizar un tope para el inicio de foco y otro distinto para finalizar el recorrido. Se acabó el pintar marcas en la zona blanca de la rueda!, lo recomiendo totalmente.Utilizar un tripode potente ya que el conjunto de los carriles de soporte + follow focus + cámara con su objetivo + visor externo + micrófono externo, son unos 4 kg. y necesita de estabilidad y seguridad que sólo proporcionan un buen cabezal para vídeo (olvídense de la rótula, pues al aflojar se te cae debido a su peso) y unas patas robustas.

Ich habe mit dem Follow Fokus auch das "SunSmart Pro DSLR Hand-Schulter-Videostativ für DSLR-Kamera und Camcords" bestellt, beides also vom selben Hersteller. Damit sollte der Follow Fokus eigentlich auch auf das Rig passen. Leider war dem nicht so.Der uns gelieferte Follow Focus hat folgende Nachteile:1. Das Zahnrad ist nicht völlig konzentrisch, es eiert minimal (unschön, in der Praxis aber vielleicht nicht merkbar).2. Der Schnellspannverschluss ("Quick-Fix-Klemm"), um ihn auf das Rig zu montieren, geht so schwergängig, dass man die Rigstangen verkratzt und ihn nur drauf bekommt, wenn man ihn von vorne über die Stangen schiebt (nicht mit quick...). Das liegt daran, dass eine der beiden Haltebacken zu weit um die Stange greift und zudem unschön scharfkantig ist. Hier handelt es sich vielleicht also um einen Fertigungsfehler.3. Die Schraube zur Arretierung des Schnellspannverschlusses ist so ungünstig positioniert, dass sie die Verschiebung des Focus quer zum Rig behindert. So hat das Zahnrad zum Objektiv (Canon 70D mit EF-S 18-55 mm IS STM) noch 3-4 mm Abstand, da sich der Follow Fokus wegen der Schraube nicht nahe genug an das Objektiv herschieben lässt - eindeutig ein Konstruktionsfehler.4. Der Zahnrad-Ringgurt sitzt auf dem o.g. Objektiv extrem wackelig. Bei dem Canon EF-S 15-85 mm IS USM Objektiv sitzt der Fokusring nahe an der Kamera, das Objektiv ist dicker. Hier konnte der Follow Fokus provisorisch getestet werden. Er funktioniert, es lässt sich sich ganz gut regulieren.5. Der klappbare Stopper für Start- und Endpunkt hat etwas Spiel und wackelt daher ein bisschen. Damit ist der Start- und Endpunkt nicht völlig präzise einzustellen. In der Praxis hat das wohl keinen Einfluss, aber ein Schönheitsfehler ist es doch.Schade, insbesondere wegen der Punkte 2 und 3 werde ich das Teil zurück schicken.Nachtrag: Ich habe inzwischen Ersatz gefunden:  Fotga DP500IIS Schärfenzieheinrichtung für 5DII III 7D D90 DSLR (A/B, harter Stopp) . Kostet mit 141 € etwas mehr, an ihm stimmt aber alles, sehr viel hochwertiger gefertigt. Ich habe auch hierzu eine Kritik geschrieben. Tenía un follow focus más barato anteriormente de los muchos que hay en Amazon y cuando recibí éste note la diferencia. Es grande, mucho más rígido y estable, ajustes más precisos y muy buena suavidad en el movimiento.

tremenda holgura en el cilindro de giro, inadmisible en un artículo de ese precio y supuesta calidad, lo devolví. A lo mejor era solo mi unidad pero compré otro de otra marca y perfecto.

Die Weise wie es an den Schienen befestigt wird ist super, aber der Follow Focus an sich ist schlecht gebaut. Dreht man ihn, reagiert er nicht sofort, sonder dreht sich erst ein Stück frei bis Drehung weitergegeben wird. Unbrauchbar für präzises Fokussieren!

Se sale el aceite por la plataforma de engranaje y se queda pegado a los dedos. Por lo demás, va bien.

Sehr gute Verarbeitung, top Qualität, schön weiche Dämpfung, es gibt nichts zu bemängeln, No Limits Unterwelt ist mit dem Produkt sehr zu Frieden.

Objectivement, le follow en lui même à l'air d'être du bon matos (solide et belles finitions). Petit bémol sur la pièce plastique cranté qui entoure l'objectif... à la 1ère utilisation je l'ai abimé suite à un mauvais réglage, ça n'empêche que cela ne serait pas arrivé si cette pièce avait été plus solide! (mais ça se change pour pas cher donc pas un drame). Je m'en suis servi que 3 fois et ça fait le boulot. Je m'en sert sur rig ou pied avec 5DIII.

This is a great follow focus system. I was looking for a better follow focus to update my older one and I am glad I went with this one. It does lack some features and adjustments if higher end follow focus systems but it does a great job.It’s well built. The knob you twist is plastic, but everything else is metal. It’s heavy and turns smooth. The drag on this was quite a bit less than the cheap neewer one I was using but was easy to get used to. It would be nice if this follow focus had an adjustment to add or decrease the drag for focusing to make slower focus pulls a little easier.The hard stops on this are great. They are easy to set and easy to change when needed. The quick release option makes it super easy to take on and off to make changes to your rig.The gear can be swapped to wait her side depending one where you need it to fit your rig.One downside to this follow focus is that it cannot be adjusted up and down, only left and right. I have this follow focus on a rig that has any extra quick release plate. Because of that there is a lot of space between the rails and the bottom of the lens. There was too much space between the lens and gear and it would not touch. Since I can’t adjust it up and down I had to use an extra focus gear ring to get the space and it was able to work.The gear belt that came with it however was junk and not useable. It looked as if it was made from 2 pieces and at the seam the focus transition would jump.Overall it’s a great follow focus and I will be ordering another for a second rig.

This Morros Follow Focus has already served me quite well over the last several months, it's very well made, with two caveats. First, the rail and slide tightening mechanism at the bottom doesn't grab the rails very well, allowing the unit to slide with a bit of force, but not noticeable usually. Second, the gear housing is now leaking very tacky oil, and caused some cleaning problems while filming. Apart from these, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat, very happy and you can't beat the price for this quality.

I'm blown away by how solid and nice this thing feels given that it is one of the cheapest on the market. It is smooth and precise with no noticable backlash or play. It mounts easily and securely and (aside from the blue color) looks nice on the camera.

This follow focus is beefy and I like that. Its easy to grip and use and the mark section is large and has plenty of space to mark focus points. The hard stops are amazing to have so you don't travel past infinity on some lenses that continue to travel. Build quality is good and feels like it will last me a long time.

Almost perfect, when I received it the transfer case was wet with lube but I wiped it off an it had been working flawlessly. I haven’t used the ring adapter for photo lenses yet but it works great on my Sigma CINE zoom lens set. Then can be used on either side of the lens and the hard stops are great
