Almost as good as home-made. And, that is saying a lot! Cleaning, seasoning, simmering and storing takes hours. I could just open the can, get a fork and eat these cold and on the run. The nutritional and fiber balance is a winner. And the price is so right. If you keep an emergency pantry, I suggest lining an entire shelf with Old Glory Greens.

These aren't as good as the ones I cook with smoked ham hocks or smoked turkey leg meat, but it's a quick substitute for when I get a taste for some greens. For some reason, they have a slight vinegary taste to them, which I could pass on. I know some folks like a little vinegar in their greens, but don't. Luckily, the flavor isn't overwhelming, so I can deal with it. Another problem is that they're reducing the amount of greens in the can and replacing them with the pot liquor, which isn't right. You're still getting the right ounces on the can, but there's too much liquid now. Pretty soon, you'll be able to drink whatever's in the can, because that's what it'll mostly be.

One of my favorite canned vegetables! The size is perfect for a family meal. The flavor is excellent, the texture is appealing, and the value is outstanding compared to the cost of making them from scratch. This vegetable is a staple in my Southern meals.

When you don't feel like washing, cutting and seasoning your greens from scratch. These are simply great!!! They really don't need anything but of course you are free to add vinegar, hot sauce, smoked hocks or turkey necks, etc.. Very good!!! I just wish you could purchase smaller, individual cans. The manufacturer makes them, but they never seem to be available on Amazon unless you purchase a case of 6 or 12 and not everyone needs that many cans.
