Great product. Solid. HOWEVER, this is only one step. They do not come as a pair. Silly me for assuming they're a set.

These side steps were a great upgrade for my Jeep. They’re solidly built and feel like they can take a beating, whether on the trail or just daily use. Installation was straightforward—everything lined up perfectly and I had them on in under an hour with basic tools. For the price, the quality is impressive—they offer a ton of value, and once installed, they’re super easy to use with a sturdy, comfortable step every time. A friend saw them the other day and immediately asked where I got them. That says it all. Highly recommend if you want something that looks great and holds up well.

It can withstand a maximum weight of 200 lbs. First off, a max weight of 200 lbs?? Really?? I am 5’10”; Athletic Build; 192 lbs … that is not much room for error on my part. However, I haven’t had any issues with the step so far. Installation is straightforward and relatively easy. The hardest part of this install was removing the OEM bolts that have been in place since my 2008 Jeep JKUR was built. Most came out with some elbow grease but two were real difficult. When inspecting the new bolts provided by HOOKE ROAD, I found them to not be of the same quality as the OEM bolts that came with the Jeep. They were the same size so I opted to install the steps with my OEM bolts as opposed to the supplied bolts. The OEM bolts have the Jeep pattern so I makes them more difficult to remove. They just seemed sturdier and better quality IMO. Installation time was about 5 minutes tops per step. Once you have the bolts out … you just put the step in place and start each bolt to make sure you don’t have any fitment issues. I then hand tightened them down and then alternated top bolt to bottom bolt to even out the tightening. Per the Jeep Body Manual (M.R.255), the torque specification is 24 ft-lbs or you could see shifting in the hinge. So I then used my torque wrench and ensured I had that value on each bolt. I also used a little bit of removable LocTite to keep them from moving out of place. Done. One thing I didn’t care for about this setup. The safety bolt you tighten down to keep the step from moving when collapsed is not extremely durable and it is shiny. Some advise … move this to the back side of the step so it won’t take damage from rocks, etc. I would also be more comfortable if this could bare a bit more weight. For instance, at my weight, it would be difficult for me to stay within the restriction with clothes on alone. Much less trying to secure something to the top of my Jeep or taking it back off. Also, I would expect the manufacturer to supply a gaskets to protect the hinge surface which is not included. I appreciate you taking the time to read this. All in all, the brackets seem solid and the step seems secure. The bottom bracket has a bottle opener … always a plus. They are a nice addition and really helps with access to the top of the Jeep. I do have some concerns that have been stated by other reviewers regarding it rusting. I will update my review in a few months to report as to how they stand up to the weather. Product looks and fits perfectly. Only took about 5 minutes to install. Price was also great for what you get. Would highly recommend this to anyone needing this for their racks on the roof of their Jeep!

Super simple to put on, maybe took 5 minutes. Will be a huge help when trying to load kayaks.

This thing is serious. All metal and made in U.S.A. I don't NEED it, it just looks cool on my Jeep !

Makes reaching the roof basket a cinch and looks great. Total installation time was just over 30 minutes for both. Very helpful to have an assistant to push against the door to keep it in place. I used wood shims to hold the door in the correct spot, a breaker bar to make the ratchet easy. Put some thin plastic wrap over the torx bit to reduce the paint chipping on the original bolts, in case they're ever needed. Note, these hinges don't come with rubber washers or a standoff gasket to prevent the step from damaging the hinge paint. I fashioned a gasket out of done dense black foam I already had. This kit should really come with this included.

Love it! Only wish is, that it would be really nice to have the "Since 1941" available with a coloured background to show up against my black jeep. I've ordered a sheet of acrylic plastic to install behind the cutout to emphasise the cutout. Take care on removing the door hinge bolts as they are in there tight and I broke one off.
