The Complete Diabetes Cookbook: The Healthy Way to Eat the Foods You Love (The Complete ATK Cookbook Series) Review: Another Americas Test Kitchen Masterpiece - You can’t beat a cookbook from Americas Test Kitchen. This book is a complete, informative guide to eating and food for the diabetic. The recipes are explained well and are complete with photos and nutrition information. Nothing boring here - exciting ingredients and many different cuisines. I’ve tried dozens of the recipes; they have all been delicious. The best cookbook I have found for the diabetic. Review: Best Diabetic Recipe Book I’ve found - This is one of the best diabetic cookbooks I’ve purchased. Most of the recipes are very yummy. A couple can take some prep work, but it’s easy to spread it out by pre-cutting veggies or pre-sautéing ingredients. I’m no expert cook, but I’ve had no problems making these dishes. My kids like the meals, too! I wish they would make another diabetic friendly book with more recipes!

Sophisticated and helpful
There are many delicious and sophisticated recipes herein that I think would please just about any palate, but as others have reviewed, you still need to carefully watch the carbs. Diabetics will probably not be well served by potato or rice dishes, which are for some reason included. However, there are enough alternatives that I have plenty to choose from. I appreciate that the recipes aren't overly complex (though not super quick either) and include helpful tips and explanations for why we use certain methods.

Excellent cookbook for healthy eating
Another hit cookbook from America's Test Kitchen. I probably have at least 25 of their cookbooks and have been very happy with all of them. This one is no different. I'm pre-diabetic so in an effort to eat healthier I bought this. Great recipes, nothing weird in them as far as one and done spices that will sit in my cabinet.

Interesting recipes but several are high in carbs
As a diabetic, I was very interested in “The Complete Diabetes Cookbook” by America’s Test Kitchen which includes many low carb recipes but also includes several high carb recipes such as Garden Minestrone with 42g carbs/serving including 9 grams sugar and Beef and Vegetable Stew with 39g carbs/serving including 10 grams sugar. These recipes don’t leave many carbs for the rest of your meal, if you are tracking carbs/meal. White potato is a traditional ingredient but has very little nutritional value and is mostly carbs. I’m disappointed that a cookbook claiming to be a healthy way to eat doesn’t suggest alternatives. However, these recipes can be tailored to your needs by substituting or reducing the amount of white potato, tomato or grain. On the plus side, the cookbook includes 1) many low carb recipes, 2) recipes with interesting combinations of ingredients and flavors, and 3) America’s Test Kitchen provides cooking directions on how to make the recipes. For these reasons, I rated this cookbook as a 3 for diabetics.

Great cookbook for diabetics
I bought this because I have both type 1 and type 2 diabetics in my family. Each recipe lists nutritional information at the end of the recipe (rather than at the back of the cookbook like most other ATK cookbooks). In another review someone said they don’t include serving sizes/amounts. They actually do on many of the recipes, but it’s in a light orange color, so maybe that person didn’t see it. I included a picture of this so you can see. There is a wide range of recipes, from breakfast to special treats. There are recipes for meat eaters as well as vegetarians, side dishes, appetizers, vegetables, etc. There is info on the different types of diabetes, as well as a rating on every recipe called “carbohydrate choice” to help you spread your carb intake throughout the day. There is information on meal planning as well. The book is a thick paperback with thick pages. There are photographs for most recipes. I would recommend this to anyone with diabetes or to people who cook for diabetics.
