Stalwart 75-8942 Hawk Helping Hand Magnifier with 2 LEDs

The base has some nice weight to it, so it won't topple over when you press your soldering iron against the board it is holding. The LEDs offer sufficient light to cover the work area. The soldering iron holder is useless as my Weller unit already has one built in, but I knew this before I ordered it. Bonus, it is removable, so you can get it out of your way. The magnifying glass is clear and does not appear to have any deformities. No, where this product FAILS MISERABLY is in the goose neck for the magnifier. Too short, as in at least HALF TOO SHORT to be of any use. By the time you position your work with the clamps, which, with each extention move further from the base; most of what you are holding is beyond the reach of the magnifier. Had the main stem reached higher and had a 90 degree elbow prior to the bendable metal neck then starting horizontal, maybe this length might work. Had this neck been repositioned or (double or tripple) in length to give more freedom of adjustment; this product would be well worth $20 to $25! Because they skimped on about a buck of metal tubing, it makes the entire design about as useful as actually holding a magnifier while you solder. Now, there is a work around, which is why I ended up giving it two stars. With the soldering holder removed, you can rotate the clamp mechanism 180 degrees so it goes the opposite direction as the magnifier, then you work will end up under such. But, this approach now limits the mobility of the clamps as it is now off center (they ingraved a dimple in the center post of the cross member) and you've lost range of motion.

Es excelente, literalmente deja libres las manos para trabajar. Es muy práctico no solo para soldar si no para pegar cosas que se demoran en secar. Obviamente no cosas muy grandes o pesadas.

I hate to say it but this product for me is something I would not purchase again.I purchased it in the fall of 2011 and probably since the beginning of 2012 the 2 LED lights have not worked,even with several battery swaps.It is a very good magnification glass product(recently used it for an IPhone repair)and is beneficial to 50+year old eyes.But again I would look elsewhere if you have to have a reliable lighted product.I am using a single LED snake light from Dorcy which I can zip tie to this product if the need arises.

I bought this for a friend for christmas and just found out the light on it doesn't work properly. That is the main reason he wanted something like this. Unfortunately I didn't find out sooner so I could have tried to return it. The light wants to work but you need to push on it to make the connection work for the light to turn on. Thus defeating the point of a third hand. He says other than the faulty light it serves its purpose.

This little gizzmo is actually pretty neat when you factor in the price being so minimal. Often time I need a third hand for gluing, soldering or such. This is a nice unit of decent quality with lots of adjust ability and heck, it even has a light and and super magnifier!

I needed this item for seeing the detail work on models. Well upon receiving it and opening it, I was disappointed at how small it was. I like the lights but the surface area of the lens it too small. I had to buy another one that was bigger and i did find it cheaper else where. I guess if it is used for small items then it will be good. But for modeling it is too Small.

Just received it I am very satisfied with the quality and the price hands down cannot be beat. I am a beginner at working with electronics. And tools and parts get pricey so for someone like me this is a very nice tool to have and am looking forward to using it and will purchase other products from Trademark Tools.

Everything is just what I need for my projects Everything works just as advertised and the priced is great! I would suggest that you do not take the aligator clips off, just move them out of the way if you don't need them. They are difficult to get back on, trust me.

Works quite well. The magnifier and light are handy in general. Heavy base prevents tipping. The only downside is that the clamps to keep the claw arms in position seem to loosen easily.

Absolutely wonderful. The LED light is really helpful.
