Schumacher doesn't disappoint, no matter the application! {CR8 Charger - 1.5 Amp, 24V}
My application for this charger was likely a bit different than most people, however it is performing wonderfully in its adapted roll. I needed a (fixed voltage, not some ‘smart’ unit) battery charger for a chair lift (In a church). The chair lift uses a pair of 12V 7AH batteries in series as its power source so hence the 24V need. The unit comes with two power plug-in ends for the typical Ride-On Toys it is intended for. I used the 4-pin (CB radio mic) plug, by desoldering and adapted it to my needs. Note, this unit does not use the same intermediate connector used is other Schumacher trickle chargers, it is close but not interchangeable. In my application this unit performs well and even the 3 status LEDs are useful. The Power On light wall power on; Charging Light works exactly as advertised while charging solid 0-80% flashing the last 20% and off When fully charged; And in my application whenever the Chair leaves the top or bottom charging docks the Failed Battery light comes on, as the unit is working into an open circuit. Also, unit runs cool under all conditions even when charging fairly depleted batteries after making numerous consecutive chair cycles. Thank You Schumacher for saving us hundreds of dollars over an OEM charger!

Like this better than the charger that came with the Razor Quad.
When I purchased the Razor Qaud for my grandson, I read a review which recommended getting this charger, so I ordered it when I ordered the Razor.I like the fact that this charger has more indicator lights, seems to fast charge to a point the trickle-charge as the battery approaches being "topped off". I also like the way this charger's adapter screws into the Razor Quad charge port to ensure a good connection.As with any rechargeable batteries, I plan to drain the battery to as close to discharged as possible, then recharge to full in order to avoid "battery memory" issues.

Working as expected
Nice to have one charger to do 6 and 12 volt batteries. Working good so far.

Does The Job Well
This is a good quality charger. Nothing fancy, but it is just what I needed for a maintainer setup on my diesel F250. Battery connector plugs are blue instead of the standard black, however, they readily interchange with standard 2-pin plug disconnects found on many chargers. This charger goes to a higher voltage than most, about 14.9V, before transferring over to float mode. That works for me, and keeps my batteries at a better state of charge near 100%. For the record, I have it connected to a 24 hour dial timer so that it only runs for 30 minutes a day to keep my batteries topped off during periods of non-use. The parasitic draw on newer vehicles will kill (and damage) the battery within a month or 2, and a charger/timer setup is the perfect solution for that. I connect it via the cigarette lighter/12V accessory plug in my F250, so connecting and disconnecting is a snap. These newer Schumacher compact chargers have been very reliable and work well for my needs.

Not too crusty... is really a 2A charger, not a 3A.
Overall this appears to be a decent little charger/maintainer, and can be used for other batteries as well, with a set of alligator clamps. I have an older Schumacher 1.5A maintainer that I've used for the same purpose, but the new design doesn't use the large transformer from the mains voltage anymore, which makes it about half the weight.This new one isn't twice as fast as the 1.5A, as I would have expected (not including the float stage, that is independent of the charger) The current clamp shows ~2.05-2.1 amps DC for a 12V SLA battery at ~12.5-13.5v. I assume the internals of this unit are the same as the 2A battery maintainer Schumacher also sells. Maybe is is 3A peak? Not sure, I'd need to hook up the o-scope. The circuitry is decent, they use a rectified high voltage stage to pulse current into the battery, so the averaged current comes out to 2A. The pulsed voltage is about twice the battery voltage, RMS, but this will depend on the battery as well.I do like how they integrated an output relay, which is important as the output voltage could get quite high if something went wrong, so plus a star for that. They also used a thermistor on the heat sink for the output diode, which should tell the IC to shut the unit down if it overheated. The case isn't vented, which is good for dust intrusion, but bad for heat dissipation. The diode runs about 110F under full load in open air. It will likely run a lot hotter when encased. Not sure why so much heat is generated across the diode. At 2A, I would expect less than 2W, but there may be extra loss due to the switching frequency used.Overall, good unit for the money. I'd like to know why it is labeled as a 3A charger, maybe that is the average DC current for a 6v battery?I don't suggest opening up the unit and plugging it in. The heat sinks are tied to positive voltage, so you could get a good shock, even with GFCI protection due to the large capacitor.

Try to go cheap, ended up having to buy this anyway!
24 volt schumacher works really well! Try to buy a cheaper one and was very disappointed. Ended up going with this and it's very happy with the results for our 24 volt kid ride on

Interchangeable charging heads
I like this cause you can change the charger heads for different things you need to charge

Better than charger that came with the toy
After buying several different brands of low cost chargers and the kids’ ride on ATV toy only lasting 3min, I found this battery. It has bells and whistles! It lights to indicated it’s charging, a light to indicate partially charged and able to be used, & a light for fully charged. Simple enough for my 6 y/o kids to manage. This charges the batteries on their ATVs better than the chargers that came with them (which the kids broke). This is designed well and isn’t as fragile as the other chargers we tried. Highly recommend

its 110v supply....
its 110v supply....not UK 240v - so you will need a transformer...
