I'm sure there are better designed Bible books for children out there
I was slightly disappointed with this version, especially as I'd bought it for my grandson who loves books. I was tongue-in-cheek about it as neither his parents believe the Bible, but I thought as it looks attractive in the picture, he would be drawn to reading it himself. However, there is nothing unusual to draw a child in. The pages are stiff and covered with bright, cheap glossy colour - there's no mystery inside the covers, just brief one-page stories which don't relate to one another. I can see it sitting on his shelf unread until I can visit and then it'll be in the charity shop bundle within a couple of years - whereas I thought it would have been a nice keep-sake for him. I think it was quite expensive, too!

Not happy.
The artwork is very good, however I was not happy with the presentation of the story "Jacob and the Trickster". Quoting from pages 40 and 41: " The next day dawned, Jacob turned to see his wife in the clear morning light. He gasped in disbelief. 'What are you doing here?' he hissed at the woman in his bed. He shook her angrily. 'It was my father's plan,' she sobbed. 'I had to do as he said.' Jacob still swore at her. ...Then he set out to confront his uncle. When he saw Laban's knowing smile, his anger turned to noisy rage, like a flickering fire exploding into flame. He shouted, he cursed, he threatened..."That was all I needed to read to reject this book for a 5 year old grandchild. This is going too far with conjectured feelings in a children's book relating God's Word.I'm glad I only paid 99c (plus 3.99 S&H). The 2 stars are mainly for the illustrations, I only glanced at a couple more stories as there's no one I would give it to.
