Easy to use
Easy to use. Do the preparation properly, get a decent thickness and it dries rock hard and is permeable too.

Romex - Rompox Easy Pointing Mortar - BASALT
Firstly, I have to say that I have absolutely NO diy experience. This was the year that I wanted to give the patio a complete face lift. The original mortar (what was left of it), looked a complete mess. We have Indian sandstone (various colours) and I chose Rompox Easy Basalt as I wanted the mortar to contrast with the colours in the paving. I am very impressed with the result, the dark mortar emphasises the colour and mixed sizes of the paving. After thoroughly wetting the area, I chose to pour this into the gaps with a garden trowel and then pressed it in with a 4” shower squeegee. I wanted it to be compacted into the spaces and the squeegee helped to press the mixture in and avoid air gaps. Plus it gave it a lovely smooth finish. (Yes, I know the videos suggest brushing it in and spraying down to aid compaction – I just wanted to make sure that I really had filled the spaces). I waited an hour and brushed the excess off. After a day it has set rock hard. I’m very impressed with the results and appearance.

It’s not difficult to use but it only lasts up to a year. I’ve used it twice now on a rock terrace that the mortar hasn’t held up well. For the price and the ease of application it’s a good product. B

This product, while convenient, ends up being very pricey. We had figured that one box would cover our entire patio - per the description - but it ended up not stretching very far. Three boxes in, and we had spent way more on the project than we had figured. It's a wet sand texture and needs lots of smoothing. It never gets hard, so we imagined our weeds coming back up through the cracks. MIght be good for a tiny project, but we ended up 'paving over' it with actual cement and are happier with the more permanent finish of actual cement.

I used Rompox Easy on my patio pavers (Belgard Mega Libre that look like flagsones once the cracks are filled, but which have many 1/2 inch deep "false" cracks) to replace the generic polymeric sand that kept breaking up. I compared it to the Dominator polymeric sand product and in my opinion Rompox is far superior. Customer support was absolutely incredible. I received 2 e-mails and 2 unsolicited phone calls as well as the personal phone number of the sales rep to be sure I had ordered the proper amount of product, and to answer a few of my questons regarding application in cooler weather (I live in Idaho in October). Product was delivered promptly. My wife and I applied it in one afternoon in about 2 hours; we found 2 people (one to wet the pavers and one to put down the mortar) worked best. After sweeping off the excess product with a soft broom shortly after putting it down and waiting 18 hours I was able to use a stiff push broom to remove the residual easily (I used a putty knife on a few places where there was excessive build up not removed with the broom) . There is a slight haze on the pavers from the binding resin as noted on the website which is supposed to fade shortly. It sets up quite quickly, and despite the fact that is not completely cured as yet, it seems solid as a rock. I have no complaints with this product and would recommend it to anyone.

Very expensive found similar product for 1/8 of the price and installed much cleaner as well.

While looking for a permeable mortar for a lakefront home here in my service area I came across this product - it was our crews first time dealing with this product and it was super simple to install - we ran out of product half way thought the job and I ended up ordering more - however when I went to check out they inventory was less than what we needed to complete the project - I reached out to the company and they have amazing customer service very prompt with a response and we ended up getting everything ordered with the color we needed - finding a good product with good service is rare in this day and age - we will definitely be doing business again in the future 💪💪
