May I still return the album without the plastic cover, as pockets are a bit smaller than I expected

You should be able to return it to Amazon.

How is the product quality?

Very good quality! Definitely not made of cheap materials. Can hold the amount of bills it says it can. Very easy to place bills in the sleeves and can easily/clearly see the bills displayed.

It doesn't show here on the picture where the opening of the sleeve, is it on the top or on the side fo the sleeve?

The opening is on the side of the sleeve…the side closest to the spine of the album.
