Love this sunscreen for sensitive faces!
Background: I have combination, sensitive, fair, 25 y.o. skin. I am super happy to have stumbled upon this in the drugstore! I have been using this sunscreen on my face & neck for the last 2-3 weeks every day, and... I love it! My skin is sensitive and will breakout in rash or acne easily if I use products that have questionable ingredients, and so far I have not experienced a rash or acne from this! It claims that it will not clog pores, and so far so good for me. The ingredient list is good and short which is great. The ingredients are great for sensitive skin; it is non-sensitizing. I love that it is fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, and oil-free. I love that it is SPF 50+ because that is plenty of sun protection. I am a fan of combination-sunscreens (a sunscreen with both physical & chemical UV filters). I love the UV filters that are used in this: octocrylene, homosalate, octisalate, and zinc (zinc is a fabulous ingredient – helps with acne & oil production). I have found that it does not leave a white-cast; it sinks into my skin well. It does have that stereotypical “sunscreen smell” which I don’t mind and I can’t smell it after a few minutes anyway. I can apply this right onto my eyelids and underneath my eyes and it does not burn or sting, even by the end of the day my eyes are still good. I typically use a moisturizer first and then apply a kidney-bean sized amount of the sunscreen to my face & neck. The way I use this sunscreen (with a moisturizer underneath) does not leave my skin matte, but I personally enjoy a dewy look because I think it looks healthy & hydrated & glowy. I think if I used less or no moisturizer first and just applied the sunscreen, then my face would look more matte. But it definitely is not like body sunscreen that is sometimes so greasy; this is a good light facial sunscreen. I haven't tested it's ability against water and sweat so I can't speak to that. At night time I make sure to remove the sunscreen using an oil-balm makeup-remover and then use a gentle cleanser, this way it does not sit on my skin overnight. Most importantly, I have not experienced any sunburns while using this. I recommend this sunscreen for facial use!

Lifetime supply :(
Never bought this brand before bc I thought it would smell like bananas, but the good news is that it doesn't. I just wish it didn't sting my eyes once it really melts into the skin. Even when I avoid the eye area, I eventually feel the burn. Also wish I didn't have to buy 3 tubes at once in order to get it. I purchased it bc it was recommended by a health magazine as the go-to sun blocker. Local stores didn't carry the exact product, so I went to Amazon for it, and the 3-tuber was the only package available. Now I have a lifetime supply, which is unfortunate, bc I know the sun block properties in a product only last about a year.

Changed the formula?
This batch of the sunscreen has a very different consistency than when I have previously purchased it. It is very thick and more similar to mineral sunscreens for the body (vs. face). Based on how this performed, I will never again buy this brand for faces. I will probably only use this for body sunscreen just to avoid wasting it, but I won't use it on my face.

Love this sunscreen -- great protection
I took this cream on a recent trip to St. John and used it faithfully every day to protect my face from sun while out on beach, at the pool, and on an all day boat cruise. I applied it liberally until my face was basically white with cream and then let it absorb for about 15 minutes before going out. I had not one speck of red skin (or nose) even though I was snorkeling throughout the day taking the mask on and off -- and I didn't reapply. The SPF of 50 really protected my face and neck area. It's a great size for travel in the small tube. It didn't make my face break out. Great stuff!

Best I’ve tried for face
Leaves less of a residue than other mineral sunscreens and doesn’t get too sticky or filmy. Doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. I have pale skin and it leaves a very minor white sheen, which I am fine with. Might be more evident on darker skin tones.

Works well but does contain Glycerol Stearate
I usually wear an SPF of thirty or higher every single day even in the winter. The Banana Boat Simply Protect sunscreen for sensitive skin is unscented and made without common skin irritants. Though, Glyceral stearate is a mild skin irritant and can cause allergic reactions in some individuals. I have two family members that have sensitive skin and this sunscreen is better than most sunscreens in terms of irritation. However, it still is not ideal for one of my family members. This is said to be a non-greasy formula but it is a hydrating formula and it can be felt on the skin. I wear sunscreen even in the winter because we are outdoors daily walking and hiking. I am happy to use the Banana Boat Simply Protect on my skin and on my toddler's skin because it does not contain oxybenzone like some sunscreens. I wear makeup with the sunscreen and I feel it adds to the longevity of my makeup. It seems to improve the appearance of my foundation unlike some sunscreens because it is hydrating. It goes on relatively easy but takes a bit of rubbing to ensure it is fully absorbed. Otherwise, it will leave the skin white. I really appreciate that the SPF is 50. I notice a difference in my skin compared to 30SPF even if I have an SPF in my foundation. A larger bottle would be ideal since we use it daily. Even with a three pack (I received one for review), It would be ideal if an 8 oz or larger were available for order. This would be suitable for travel but not as appropriate for at home use. I would order again if it was available in a larger quantity per bottle.

Do not use Banana Boat- Harmful Chemicals
I used the spf 50 mineral for faces, this sunblock caused skin irritation in every place I used it on my body: face, arms, neck, shoulders , chest. It caused itchy bumps that resembled acne and red skin patches and peeling dry skin. I did research on banana boat, turns out they have a lot of very bad chemicals in their sunblock. So much in fact there are websites discussing it and warning against using their products. I stopped using their spf 50 mineral for faces and 6 days later my skin “ issues” on my face, neck, chest were better . I do NOT recommend using or at least, do thorough research before you do use it.

Outstanding sun protection for those who have sensitive skin
This cost about $10 each. You're paying for a 3-pack. It leaves a mild residue of whiteness behind it because it is so good at reflecting sunlight. Most sunscreens that offer more than 50 SPF leave your skin a bit pasty white at least for the first hour or so. And then eventually it works in. The key thing is that it is soft to go around the eyes and that it blocks out the damaging Rays. That's why I'm giving it five stars.
