Great product
Immediately recognized by Win10. Performs exactly as desired. Brace the unit with a finger when removing a USB cable if thumb drive, as they fit very snug and can pull the whole unit out of the laptop!

Update to original review... NOT GOOD!
I'm updating this again and for the last time. The ports are now loose and rarely make good contact. Even worse, I had been using it to move a lot of data back and forth on a portable hard drive and on the occasions it does work, it will likely break connection during a transfer. I am now forced to use the 2.0 ports on my computer that run much slower simply to be sure the data gets where it needs to go. Previous review update: This first paragraph is an update to my original review. I have two issues with the card. First, I occasionally have trouble reading my external drive unless I reboot my computer. Second, usb connectors don't seat as tightly as they should and I have to be careful to not move around or I'll lose the connection and have to reboot. However, it is still a good, economical solution for my usb 3 issues. My old Lenovo T430 laptop is an excellent performer that fills all of my needs. Of the scores of computers I have owned over the last 40 years, it is my favorite and I want to keep using it until it completely fails. I recently started having problems reading an external hard drive through the computer's two USB 3.0 ports; however, it works fine (but slowly) on the USB 2.0 ports. One thing I noticed is that a microphone and thumb drives work on the 3.0's. I can also hear the hard drive run when plugged in, but it's pilot light is dimmer than when plugged into the USB 2.0. This leads me to believe that there is a power problem with the faster ports that is beyond my ability to troubleshoot and repair. I'm also not willing to potentially spend several hundred dollars to have it repaired. Fortunately, the computer has a 34mm ExpressCard slot which led me to a search for a USB 3.0 adapter that will fit it. A quick search lead me to this and other USB 3.0 adapter cards. The highest rated one contains a single port, which is a problem since I occasionally need to plug in two external drives so that I can transfer very large files. Since I do not want to use the substantially slower 2.0 port, I took a chance on this adapter with its two ports. It arrived on the promised date, packed with a miniature cdrom containing a needed driver. Here is my only complaint with the adapter card. When inserting it in the slot, it required enough effort to make me concerned that it was not fitting in correctly. Before committing myself, I double checked that it was properly positioned, then pushed it all of the way in. This is a typical card slot that should allow a card to be removed by pushing it so that it clicks and partially ejects. However, this fits too tightly to allow that action. I feel lucky that the card works properly since I will definitely have a problem if I ever need to remove it. That problem aside, I tried to read a drive without installing the driver and as expected, it didn't work. With driver installed, the computer recognized the hard drive and I was able to fully access it. I also read and wrote a large file through the card and it appears to give speeds typical of 3.0. There is one other issue that wasn't a problem for me, but may be for others. The driver was supplied on the cdrom and I did not see any reference for how to download it if the computer does not have a cd or dvd drive. So, barring a future problem removing it, I am very pleased to say the adapter card resolved my USB 3.0 problem for only $24!

Working with Ubuntu Desktop 22.04 LTS
I bought this to add USB 3.0 to my Thinkpad T420 Linux Laptop. It worked right out of the box. It's hard to rate the setup since it was as simple as inserting the card into the slot. No driver installation necessary. I did subtract a star for a few reasons: retention is not great. In most USB ports, there's a point when you're inserting it that it sort of "snaps" into place and feels secure. These USB ports don't have that. It just sort of slides and then stops. Also, if your laptop has a spring loaded expresscard slow and insert a USB connector too firmly, it can click and release the card from the slot. This isn't a huge problem with this card because: This card barely fits in the expresscard bay. Like other reviewers have noted, inserting this card isn't a problem but getting it out can be a bit of a hassle. With the spring-loaded expresscard bay in my laptop, it takes a bit of wiggling and persuasion to get the card back out. This isn't an issue for me since I don't have any other expresscard adapters and this stays in my laptop 100% of the time but I could see it being a deal breaker for people with multiple cards who want to switch it out on the go. One last issue worth mentioning is that it's actually possible to insert a USB upside down into these ports. If you pay attention, it's probably not going to be a problem. I'm not sure if inserting a USB upside down has the potential to damage devices. My flash drive survived it but it's at least worth being cautious. Overall, this is a very cheap USB 3.0 expresscard and I do appreciate the flush mount. Speeds are as expected and none of the negatives have any impact on my setup or the way I use the device. I can't speak for others but I could see how it may be a dealbreaker but for me, it's an excellent device.

Does what it's suppose to do
I'll make this succinct. It's definitely a good product and works well. See below 1. For windows 7 and lower the drivers (included on a disc in the package) need to be installed. Also plug the device in first then install the drivers 2nd. 2. The Expresscard will get warm if anything is plugged into it for a long time (into the USBs) so just keep an eye out for the and don't keep things plugged in for a long time. Product works well

A little awkward to install, ports are sort of loose, but it does work.
Using this on a Lenovo ThinkPad W540, and installed drivers using the included disc with the DVD drive in my laptop. This doesn't deserve 4 stars, it's really a 3 star product, especially at this pretty high price. It took a lot of pushing to get it to 'click' into the ExpressCard slot on my laptop, and once it was in there, the ports seemed like they were really loose. It takes very little effort to plug in and unplug any device you put in there, so I would probably not use this for data transfer as it's hard to depend on a connection that could be removed if it were bumped or tugged slightly. That said, it *does* operate at USB 3.0 5Gbps speeds, so it technically does work as advertised, but at this price I would expect a better fit both into the laptop and with devices connected to it. This'd be 5 stars if it was $9.99, which is really the value I would place on it.

A piece of junk for your laptop.
I'm "using" this device with a Dell Latitude E6320. I installed the Express Card usb adapter in and Ubuntu recognized it immediately. That's good. I installed a usb drive in one port and again, Ubuntu saw it. I removed the drive (and the whole adapter came out with it.) I installed the flash drive into the second port and.....nothing. The laptop became really warm and I turned it off. I rebooted and attempted the usage test again. It work work ONLY if the adapter wasn't pushed all the way in. And if a usb drive/hub was inserted then the os wouldn't see (as the whole adapter moved.) Not recommended all.

Needed more USB ports, saved me a hub.
My Lenovo W530 still works great, it just needed more USB ports. This solved the problem right away.

Works great
Plug and play under Linux Mint. 10x the transmission speed of the laptop USB ports.

Works perfectly and instantly with Linux Mint and Toughbook CF-19
It arrived this morning so after unpacking it (huge amount of packing for such a tiny item) I pulled out my Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 and plugged it in. After booting into Linux Mint 32 bit, I connected an external SSD drive and it just worked - copy tests showed good speeds so I am very happy with the 2 Port USB 3.0 to Express Card ExpressCard 34mnm
