Love this product
This is the best stuff ever. Everything needed is included in the box. I found this very easy to use and I am not a handy person. The directions are simple yet complete. Product worked amazing. I cannot say enough good things about this.

Works great - far superior to the alternatives
I had used this for a few years and found it to be effective and relatively easy to work with. But people kept talking about Bondo and Bondo-like fillers, so I thought I'd give them a try. What a mistake - they're incredibly malodorous and have a ridiculously short working time (by the time I mixed it thoroughly I only had a couple of minutes working time!). When you're repairing rotten wood, you need time to get it into the cracks and mold it to shape - a few minutes won't do.When I came back to the Abatron system, it was like heaven. Sure, it takes some experience to learn the ins-and-outs of working with it, and it doesn't adhere to surfaces without quite a bit of manual labor, but the fact that it barely has an odor, is very sandable, and holds up over time, makes it worth the expense. Sometimes you have to try the alternatives before you know what you really have!

Excellent product. Performed better then expected
Excellent product. Performed better then expected. Needed it to repair some rotted and loose wood. Had a storm door that got caught in the wind and "ripped" the screws and mounting mechanism that attached to the wooden door frame right out of the frame along with a long piece of wood about an inch wide at the bottom to 1/2 inch wide at the top and 7 inches long, 3/4 inch deep. Rather then replace the entire exterior door and frame (which would have been very expensive as the door has decorative glass panels) I used this product to fill the new gaping hole.If you have not used this product, simply mix the two components in equal amounts. It creates what feels like a light "foamy" material. Upon first use, I thought this stuff will really not work so I mixed the material, filled in the bad spot of the door, and also made a "foam" ball to see how it would be in the morning. The next day, the ball was still light, however, hard as a rock. I was quite surprised. The material put into the gaping hole in the door frame hardened as well and it adhered quite nicely. I took a pad sander to it and sanded it smooth. Then primed and painted it and you can't even tell a repair was made. I have also used this to fill in an area of rotted plywood flooring and again, it worked great. I like the fact that is it pliable, sort of like Play-Doh, and you can mold and shape it.Bottom line is I found a product that I really like and will again as it works great. My background is also in home remodeling and I can think of 1000 uses for this product.Reviewed by G. Swanson.

Outstanding product, expensive but well worth it
If you're working with desiccated wood, it's hard to imagine a better product. The liquid portion quickly penetrates and solidifies the wood, creating an excellent base for the putty. The putty itself is easy to shape, especially if you use a putty knife or even your finger dipped in thinner to smooth it out at the end. Be careful, though: ALWAYS wear gloves, preferably cheap nitrile gloves that you can dispose of. Work in a contained area, because the liquid wood is extremely permanent (the putty is easier to clean off). And only prepare appropriate amounts - you definitely want enough material to finish the job at one time, but your working time is limited (less than an hour with the liquid, about 20 minutes with the putty). Both portions are sensitive to heat and humidity -- the hotter and drier, the faster and better they cure. The finished product can be easily sanded, and is paintable. However, because the putty when it dries is somewhat absorbent of paint, and has a foamy texture, I'd recommend placing a thin veneer of the liquid wood over the putty, and then sand again, which should result in a more consistent finished painted product.

Does the job, but a little difficult to use.
So I bought this product because I only use epoxy wood filler on outdoor projects. All the others are a waste of money. I use other products for this same purpose, mostly PC Woody and yes, regular old Bondo. Bondo is cheap and long lasting, plus cures much faster, but it doesn't adhere to wood well enough, so the two best products I have found are this one and the PC Woody. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. My biggest issue with this product is that when the epoxy is mixed it is very stiff and cant be "spread" over a surface to fill cracks or holes. Thankfully you can use the liquid wood included in this kit to thin it down to where it can be spread. The only problem is I had other plans for the Liquid Wood, and I ended up using it all to thin down the filler. This stuff would be great if you planned to make a sculpture, or even fabricate features on your wood out of it. Its not the best to fill cracks and holes, but is acceptable after thinning. It just depends on what you are wanting to do with it.

Best product I’ve found to repair sun and/or water damaged wood.
Fairly easy to apply and very easy to work after it sets up. I used it to repair some rot in wood. The Liquid Wood soaks in well, especially if you drill a few holes. Then fill the voids with the putty. Once it sets up you can use chisels, planes, and sandpaper to smooth it out and blend it with the existing wood. It takes paint just like wood and you can’t tell there was a repair once the paint dries. Both the Liquid Wood and the putty mix 50-50 so you need to be fairly accurate or you will have problems. Too much hardener (part B) and it will set up way too fast, or even cause a fire in the extreme. Too little hardener and it will never set up. If the temperature is near the low end of the specified range you might need to keep the repair warm with a hairdryer or heat gun until it sets.
