Does anyone else have trouble with the 1000 and 2000 series not providing the advertised throw distance? Mine are short. Suggestions?

You are right, these are finicky heads, but worth it for great water coverage. They are also great for clay soil! Mine throw water the correct distance. BUT, and this is big, you must have clean water at a decent pressure. I also raised my sprinkler heads up about an inch to avoid the nozzle having to push through too much grass and dirt, which can also clog the head when returning into the ground. I couldn’t get maximum distance until I replaced the sprinkler bodies with a pressure sensitive body at 40psi on ALL the heads in that zone- with check valves. I used Hunter Pros04-PRS 40. Before changing the whole unit I blew out the lines to make sure there wasn’t debris clogging the water filter. I’m guessing I will need to do that every year.

Is this compatible with rain-bird or toro?

It is compatible with Rain-Bird which is the original irrigation system installed at my house. I do not know if It is compatible with Toro.

Assuming Toro sprinkler heads utilize the same threaded interface as most others (not the 1/2" female fitting to the pipe), this should work fine. I don't have Toro heads, so I'm guessing here. I was very disappointed in this hunter nozzle, however. VERY ANEMIC output and the supposed "reach" wasn't. These put out less than half the output of "regular" heads. The rotating feature is nice, however.

Is it able to do 360 degree?

This one cannot do 360, it is from 90 to 210. If you need 360 you should order HUNTER Sprinkler MP1000360 MP Rotator, 8-Feet to 15-Feet Radius and 360-Degree
