Enlightening explanation and understanding with practical ideas
This is a book written by experts in a language you can understand. It is clear and comprehensive. It is great to read something by people who understand and explain how avoidant eating arises (and have some ideas how to slowly slowly move forward)

Must have for parents of children with ARFID
I am not often leaving the reviews but this is the one I must do.I just received it today and already red half. As a parent of child with ARFID we just found few weeks ago this is so helpful. It explains everything and give the clear idea of what and why your child might respond to food the way they are.It is written by professionals but also very clear and easy language so it is something you can read without being a specialist. The best buy in the past few months. MUST HAVE!!!

Would give more stars if I could
This is an excellent book for those with children who eat very restricted diets. If you have a 'picky eater' (and hate the term 'picky eater' because you know this pattern of eating goes way beyond a bit of fussiness) this is your book. It covers the developmental stages when a child is young as well as how to manage interventions to help your child, young and old, try and eat better. It also talks about avoidant restrictive food intake disorder which is in the DSM 5, but most nhs professionals are still unaware of. For the first time ever I feel someone actually understands and have some solid practical advice to follow instead of being told 'all kids are fussy at this age' or 'just feed them what you eat, they won't starve themselves' when you know they would happily choose to starve than face certain foods. Elizabeth Shea and Gillian Harris actually get it.
