Modern Ninja Warfare: Ninja Tactics and Methods for the Modern Warrior: Ninja Tactics for the Modern Warrior

Highly recommended for anyone with an appreciation for historical Japan or modern special forces.
Although the subject is on the face of it like a 1980's B movie it is at least fun. The author Antony Cummins is well know for his historical research into the Ninja and Samurai so I was interested to see where he would go with the subject that seems a little outside his normal interests. For this reason I was very excited to get copy of modern Ninja warfare through the post for review. I was in no way disappointed, Mr Cummins states in the introduction that he wants the book to be a historically accurate comparison between Ninja and modern special forces, he succeeds in this while managing to keep it engaging and brutal. This books seems to be very well researched for both the historic and modern elements and I would highly recommend it to anyone with an appreciation for historical Japan or modern special forces. This book is a gold mine for information and I can see it having a really broad appeal from history buffs though to survivalists looking for pointers and people with military training who have an interest in comparisons of ancient and modern.

Excellent for the modern warrior and history enthusiasts
I found this book fascinating; the similarities between the modern Special Forces and medieval, Ninja and Samurai tactics and techniques, has transferred through time . This book is a change in style from the translations of 16th century manuscripts Mr Cummins has previously done. This book shows an understanding of the source documents with the modern warrior in mind. Quick draw Iai principle of the Japanese sword, can easily be seen in modern side-arms applications. Also, security of an important person when on the move, has striking similarities to feudal Japan, albeit on foot whereas today we use vehicles. I also like the fact the the source information is referenced, so if you wish, it can be verified. These are only a couple of examples from the book, but I think it will appeal to those of us who are interested in Special Forces and Ninja alike.

Fascinating
Antony Cummins has done it again. An excellent book making the history of this secretive group accessible and relevant to modern times.

Where has this book been all my life?
This book is for anyone and everyone interested in the Ninja or the special forces around the world. It’s packed with information and images too. It has everything you could want from a “modern” ninja book from swords to guns to gates to fire, and so much more. I’ve got a lot of ninja and special forces books and this is at the top for core information. Love it!

Interesting introduction into the modern shinobi of todays world...
I have a great deal of respect for this author and have purchased several of his books on shinobi or as we most likely know them today as the ninja. This book is to my mind a brief overlay of the comparisons between the military, close protection industry and subtle similarities of shinobi (were they still active in society today)Perhaps not the best book to start out with if you have never read any of his other works, it has a certain interest to it but not one of my favourites so far.If you're a fan of the author's work and enjoy his efforts to bring knowledge to the world about the truth behind the misunderstood ninja/shinobi of Japan then this is one you'll want to collect at some point or another.Very well written, clearly detailed and a quality publication.I would like to have personally had a more involved book but that's my opinion - I'm looking forward to more detailed future releases.
