Long/Detailed Review - one of my favorite earphones among many!
(photos and video coming soon!)I have been a bit sucked in to trying lots of earphones as well as over-ear headphones, so now have a wide variety to compare to. Hopefully you find this helpful as its from a non-audiophile, non-purist (i.e. overly scrutinizing for perfection), POV. That means while I don't use cheap free earphones like those cheap plastic white ones you may have gotten, I also don't buy any that are in the hundreds of dollars. I also listen to a big range of music and want earphones that can suit them all (classical during work, industrial, britpop, indie, synthpop, new wave, hiphop/rap, classic country rest of the day).Topline: These are among the most impressive build and sound quality for the price of all my earphones. Background: I have a few other earphones from KZ who is pumping out generally amazing earphones for the price, rivaling competitors that cost multiples. My recent favorites have been the ED16, but those may be bumped for these now.Package: Upgraded their packaging for this flagship. No more cheaper white box. This is a book-fold style, and feels like you're giving yourself a gift. A foam tray holds the earpieces. A tab at the bottom makes for easy lifting to reveal the tips and other stuff. The included cable is an upgrade from the past versions I bought. The Guts: This has 5 drivers in each unit. A single dynamic driver handles sub-bass while 4 balanced armatures take care of everything above sub bass. Impedance is listed as 24ohm and sensitivity of 105dB/mW, so you should be fine driving this off your phone/computer, but it definitely sounded better with stronger sources.Cable: Nice double braided cable with memory wire to wear over your ear...which is how you should be wearing earphones to begin with! Stays nicely in place. Seems to have gold plated 75mm pin, and NO phone mic, so keep that in mind. You can buy aftermarket cables with mics if you want. And in case youre curious if an in-line mic affects sound quality, many people have addressed this and concluded that there's no noticeable effect on quality, so I'd have preferred myself to have one already included, but thats a minor point as I have multiple spare cables with mics. Also note these are dual pin connectors. More on that shortly. Just know that having detachable cables to me is fantastic and wish every earphone had the option, since the cable often dies/gets damaged before the earphones themselves do. Cheaper to replace just a cable than the whole earphone set!The Body: I love the design! Its definitely different looking than others out there and to me thats good, not generic. Almost has a sci-fi futuristic look to me, like something out of Star Wars. More importantly the body is metal and feels quite sturdy, unlike some of my other great sounding earphones that are build of plastic and makes me feel like they can easily break. These feel like you can sit on them, drop them, throw them at the wall and they'll do just fine. They have a 2pin style connector which is AWESOME! Why? I use earphones all the time with my phone, going in and out of my pocket all day (I live in NYC, ride the subway, and have it with me all the time) on commutes and at the gym, and after the cables end up breaking. It sucks to have to throw away earphones because of a cable. With detacheable cables you just buy a new cable and keep the earphones. Also, you can upgrade your cable if you want, and you may want to with the ZS7. They are perfectly fine, but there are much higher quality (yes more expensive) versions out there, and you may or may not want a mic.Bass:First off, I am NOT a bass-head. For that you might look to other earphones. I personally prefer wider soundstage to hear 'everything'. On these, the sub-bass is definitely there, but in a controlled way. I didn't notice any rolloff of it. Midbass is a bit more elevated but also controlled with a nice punch and fade and not interfering with the mids. I think this is an improvement from what I can tell from the ED16/ZS6, there less bass bleed and the bass sounds more natural. To me this one really nails the bass better than nearly all my other earphones! AGAIN please note this is my opinion, and I'm no expert and didn't use any software to analyze anything.Mids:I thought the mids were good on my other models from this maker, but this one is indeed improved. Now the others seem to have the mids overshadowed by the bass/treble in comparison. The mids feel much more present here, like I'm up front at the concert! If you like a deep V sound signature, this aint it. I like getting all the details the artist intended.Treble:My biggest annoyance in other earphones is a spiking treble, maybe my ears are sensitive. I don't get that from these. There's treble of course, but not overly sparkly or tinny. Has a nice roll off. I often find myself messing with the equalizer setting to tame the treble on other earphones but didnt feel the need with these.Soundstage:Soundstage overall is very nice for a) earphones and b) this price. When I really want it, I go to my over-ear studio headphones, but those are a different grade/price and also a different purpose. The ZS7 does a bang up job giving you an open sounding soundstage, wider than its predecessors. I can hear the instruments (instrument separation) and it doesnt sound crowded even on fast or busy songs.Overall: I think they hit a homerun with these! To me its like they took all consumer feedback and packed it into a nice looking, nice feeling, great sounding earphone.

Great for vocals
I absolutely love these…they’re a bit boosted in the mid range and flatter in the bass and treble range…they are absolutely stunning …I wish I could shape the eq to my liking but they’re still good sounding IEM…based on my ears these would be good for a someone who wants to focus on vocals and keyboards in a mix!

Absolutely fabulous.
The sound quality is beyond amazing. Wonderfully balanced highs and mids with ridiculously powerful bass potential on the dynamic driver. Ive bass tested these pretty extensively and its just amazing how powerful the bass unit on these is.The overall clarity and detail on the high/mid armatures is simply beautiful and well balanced. However, as a drummer, isolation is very important to me and unfortunately these dont seal as well (at least in my ears) as the AS10's and dont block out enough outside noise for these to be good drumming headphones. The AS10's have a little bit longer stem that goes into the silicon plug and it makes it easy to get them far enough in to maximize the isolation and filters out the sound in a way that makes the drums sound super refined almost as if youre hearing a studio recording instead of a drumset in person so if you're a musician and especially if you perform live get the AS10's because theyre both in ear monitors and really good earplugs. They just dont have the bass potential of a dynamic driver for the low end so its either earplug headphones or bass junky headphones take your pick. For music listening and gaming though get these. They make expensive mainstream big name headphones seem like hot greasy garbage in comparison. These things are astoundingly inexpensive for the sound you get.

Okay, could be better
Purchased these for my sun who is a drummer. He says they sound okay but he cannot use the tips so they do hurt his ears a little with the sharp edges in his ear. He also loses son sound due to them not sealing without the tips. They are adjustable to the tones you want to change, but they are a larger bud due to this. I do not think I would spend the money on them again at this price. Okay sound can be achieved for less.

High end quality at a casual price point
I listen to ear buds 10 - 12 hours a day at work so put my headphones/ear buds through their paces. On and off hundreds of times a day, I usually wear out the cords long before the buds or drivers see any wear and tear. So swapping cables is a game changer. I haven't picked up a bluetooth cable yet, but know I have the option of swapping cables when I move from my office to my lab and hopping on bluetooth to my phone sounds amazing. With how long I'm wearing gear throughout the day, comfort is a must. I always swap default tips with cheap memory foam replacements, so keep that in mind. But with the memory wire and cable composition I don't hear any wire feedback when I move. Most ear buds telegraph any noise hitting the cable into your ear if you're not wearing them just right. With these I just pop one in(even one ear works great) and drown out the entire office.Even without breaking in the drivers, the sound quality is amazing. The driver responsiveness and quality surprised me. I had always taken driver shake as a given with ear buds under 100$. But I hear no buzzing in any of the audio testing videos on youtube. They made it all the way down to 18hz where most ear buds die out well before 30hz. They made it to 20,000hz but became pretty quiet above 15000hz. As I am not a dog, that doesn't bug me.If you're a true audiophile, I'm sure you'll find these buds lacking in some areas. But a casual user who appreciates quality sound at a casual price point will find these to be the perfect pair of buds.

The best earphones I have ever had
I have AT M50x and Fiio FH1. The KZ Zx is a killer. The best sounding earphones one would need. Dont think twice, go for it.
