Review: Great!! - Anime made me cry watch the anime and read the manga Review: Great series! - This is an amazing series! Dont need another huge long review but if you're thinking of reading this and you're like "hmm I'm not sure is it just some lovey cringe page after page" it is not! There's a small amount of romance between a few different characters but theres loads of subplots that shoot the story off in different directions. It's not for the feint of heart, theres quite a lot of heavy hitting stuff in this book so be warned about that (This book needs a content warning for pretty much everything you can think of) HOWEVER If you know all that before going into it, you wont regret it! The book itself is nice shiny paperback, its standard manga sized so fits neatly on the shelf with everything else, it's also really well translated to english and does a much better job that other english adaptations out there

Manga at its best <3
I bought this manga quite a few years ago, in my early teens, and I think the plot was a bit too complex for me then. But after picking it off my shelf to read again now was one of the best things I could have done. It is a series that challenges all stereotypes and conventions of classic Japanese manga, but in a very good way. After reading countless reviews and the synopsis, its easy to overlook this manga if you are a fan of classic Shojo manga, however I woud defintely recommend this to all mature readers, both male and female. The bond between Ash and Eiji is so intense, its hard to put in to words and is what keeps me clinging to this series. This manga is defintely a must for any yaoi/shonen-ai fan, gangster fan or simply a fan of relationships, love and betrayal. Go buy it now! <3

Shojo for mature readers
I've been growing tired of Shojo manga lately, it all seems to be pouting pretty boys and ditzy wide-eyed teen girls, so Banana fish was a bit of a shock to the system, and in a good way! The story is very dark, very grittiy and theres not a girl in sight (magical or otherwise). Almost imeadiatly the readre is thrown into a world of mystery. The story opens during the vietnam war. A soldier, driven insane, turns a gun on his comrades. Afterwards he left without the abuilty to speak, except for one single phrase "Banana fish". Fast forward to the 1980's. Gang leader Ash finds a dying man in an ally way. The man gives him a vile containg an unknown substance and the words "Go to Banana fish". What could be the conection between these 2 events, the mafia and a series of mysterious deaths across the city? This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I read it cover to cover in one sitting, and I'm definetly going to get hold of the other books in the series when there published in english (19)
