(Updated 2020) If you found this, then click "Add to your cart" and thank me when it arrives.
I bought this lock based on several online reviews. I have three of them, and one with the stainless shackle, that I accidentally ordered. I meant to get this marine grade one with the Brass shackle when I ordered that one. All four are fantastic. Changing combinations is very simple. One time I failed to push the "set" pin all the way in, but I quickly realized my mistake. Sometimes it can take a little more force than expected on one of my locks. Just know that it should go almost as far "In" as it can. The lock is very solid. I cannot stress this enough. They make Master Lock products feel loose and wobbly. I never thought they were until I started using one of these. I have seen the comparable looking model from ML. It is actually slightly different dimensions. These locks have a slight outward angle, whereas the ML is straight up and down. I admit I have seen the ML version of this lock functioning for 25+ years on a friends sailboat. It still works. But it is a pain to work the dials. I have read very few reviews that support ML as much. However I have seen several personal testaments that re-affirm the quality of Sesamee Locks. It may be hype, but handling the two makes me think otherwise. I have one observation, not really a negative. Due to my own ignorance, I thought my lock had a problem. I didn't realize that when the number wheels are spun in a decreasing direction, they stop at 0. I don't know why, they just do. Passing 9 in the increasing direction, it will go to 0 and continue increasing. I have adapted to setting the locks to all 0's when I'm done. I guess that was why they are made that way. Would I buy them again, absolutely! I'm sold on these over Master locks from now on. I read too many reviews about how the Master locks failed to remember their combo, or just plain stopped working. These things need better marketing, they are 10x the quality of anything comparable! I have been reformed. Gone is the day of the loose wobbly master lock. These just feel like quality. Updated: Still going strong. The one outside is still perfect. No issues with any yet. My master lock failed. I had to break it to get past it. I spray the Sesame with lube occasionally, because I like them spinning smooth.

Solidly Built, Highest Quality, Precise Number Dials
Of all the different combination locks I've owned, this one is a standout. The case is heavy brass and the shackle appears the same (though it may be brass-colored steel). The numerals on the dials are clearly written, the detents between for a fingernail are deep, the individual dials move smoothly and seem to stop with the number in correct position, not in between. The requirement of a "key" to set the combination, as opposed a keyless type, is no big deal; not many lock combinations are changed after being intially set. Its brass construction gives it a nautical look, which is appropriate, since it secures the lid of my dock box at the marina. The shackle is also ever-so-slightly smaller in diameter to another lock I've used so it doesn't bind in the opening of the dock box latch. I trust its weather resistance will live up to my expectations. It's made in Taiwan and looks to be as solidly built as many of their tools.

Better than Masterlock
Buy these locks. Far superior to Masterlock. Handles weather way better

LOVE Special Feature Of These Locks
We have used this brand of locks, for years, in fact some have been handled so often over time, the brand letters had worn off on the old ones, & I couldn't tell what brand they were. Finally, using a light & strong magnifying glass, I could read enough letters, to figure it out.... & immediately ordered more, for additional needs... The 4 old ones, were still in perfect 'working order', & I just needed more of them, for new purposes, & I wanted he same brand. The numerals are easily seen, & the dials roll easily. But my FAVORITE feature, is that after you've opened the lock, you can quickly roll the dials upward with your thumb, & they all stop on ZERO, so even if someone is with you, with lightning fast action, you can remove your combination, without even looking at the numbers. I always leave the locks, set on those zeros, for safety, & convenience... I can even open one in the dark, knowing each one is starting at ZERO, so I just count the 'clicks' that can be felt & slightly heard. These Sesamee Combination locks can be set to your own personal numbers, & several of ours get daily opening & re-locking, & they have lasted for many years of use, without a 'hitch' .... They are exposed to the weather, but an occasional cleaning & little 'puff' of dry graphite, & they are ready to go for more years of use... best locks we've ever used, & NONE have ever failed us.

Unreliable combination set, failure and corrosion
I bought 2 of these and one of the same with chrome plating for use in a marine (not submerged but on a boat moored in salt water). I expected to keep them somewhat protected and felt these likely better to handle corrosion risk that others. The locks are heavy, look strong, and likely difficult to break, perfect. First my relevant experience w/ the locking mechanism, which attractively is programmed by the user to selected code. Using the provided tool, my first set went perfectly. Problem #1: I went on to the second lock, same procedure, locked it and... it would not unlock. After many attempts at combinations that might have been hit en route to my selected number I gave up. I was still sure I did something wrong until later. The third lock set to appropriate numbers first time, no problems. Problem #2, In use, I found the numbers on first lock used became quickly obscured and difficult to read as a result of surface corrosion which arose in just a couple weeks. The rollers got stiff, and I lost confidence I could open it when I came back. I switched out the lock and it's positioning to a more protected place (using a longer cable). The numbers still looked fine a week later, no visible corrosion but... Problem #3: The lock would not budge. This one had no corrosion. No visible defect. I tried everything short of cutting it off. The combo worked fine when I put it there, but would not release. No corrosion, just locked. Tried going off the number and back to it multiple times, no joy. Came back next day to try to cut it off but tried again a couple times, no different technique, but it popped open! I reproduced the unexpected locking jam/failure to unlock a couple more times and decided the mechanism was unreliable. I strongly recommend these not be trusted when you may need to gain access to your locked item. I was very disappointed because I trusted the positive reviews, manufacturer website and expected application guidance.

So far so good many advantages over keyed lock
I like this lock . I was so tired of having to keep 1000 keys on my key ring or go hunt up keys to get into my sheds , move trailers etc . You can change your combination easily . If you move the wheels in one direction they all stop on zero so you can then count the clicks to open these in the dark . They make a marine one for about 3 dollars more that is 100% brass . In this the working mechanisms are brass only the hasp is not but it is coated . I am using these outdoors with no problems . Make sure you follow the manafacturers recommendation to use graphite powder only not oil and they should last forever outside . This is the lock most governmental and large companies use on their rural stuff that requires locks . A few guys said these are ok outdoors not to spend the extra money on the marine grade if your not near salt water . These locks do cost little more then other options but last forever . They won't keep things 100% secure but none will , they do establish breaking and entering without a doubt and keep people out that are honest or to prevent harm like for a electrical box . These are very for trailer hitches - no misplaced keys preventing trailer uncoupling or attachment . I am slowly replacing all my key locks . I love that I can have one keyed different for the garden shed so a helper can have access then it can be changed every so often . I love that I can use the same combination on every one and keep adding as I use about 20 locks all together for my sheds , boats , cycles , trailers . Soon they will all open without a key and the master locks I have been replacing were rusty , crusty and starting to stick . So far no issues at all winter or spring will update at one year and longer as I buy more . Been over a year no corrosion or problems of any kind . I did buy dry graphite powder and sprinkled some into each of these locks plus all the other types of locks including my cars . Found some at the hardware for $3 . I just bought a new bike and will order a lock for it otherwise I have replaced every lock I owned that had a key with these . I love them . All the ones outside still look like new . I even had trouble with two master locks when replacing them but not with any of these , they open easily every time . They are very easy to reset too .

Good for gym use
I use this lock for going to the gym and locking my locker. Nothing else. I can say for that purpose this is a great lock. Even though it may be slight overkill for a gym lock, I like the fact that I can leave my wallet, car keys, and phone/ipod without second guessing their security. I also like that it is a 4- digit combo lock made for outdoor marine conditions. I frequently use this lock after swimming in a saltwater pool when my hands are still dripping wet and the dials still remain easy to move and rust free. The paint surrounding the numbers on the dials, however, has started to come off in places. I don't mind at all because I can still see all numbers perfectly but if you are going to be using this in a rougher application like boating than it may be something to consider. The picture is slightly misleading as other reviewers have also stated, the "Sesamee" logo is not blue. Instead the logo is etched into the chrome, something I wasn't expecting. I would rather the blue logo personally. The reason I subtracted the star is mainly because I went to lock my locker one day and was having difficulty doing so. I took a closer look and realized the hook piece that you lock down was slightly bent to one side. This was causing the hook to catch on the body of the lock when locking/unlocking making it stubborn to operate. I held the lock down when I got home and whacked the hook with a hammer bending the piece back so it's straight and no longer catches. The first couple weeks this was not an issue. The only place this lock goes, besides being on the locker, is in my gym bag that gets brought inside and set on the carpet. I am not sure how a hardened metal padlock can bend in a gym bag without it falling off a building but it happened... which makes me somewhat question the quality overall with the addition of the paint coming off in certain areas.

The only brand locks that all clear to zero on one direction
I've used these locks in the oil field and pipeline business for over 20 years. What I like most about this brand is when you rotate them one direction it stops on zero. So this makes doing the combination completely in the dark very good. Rotate all of them upward until they stop which means 0000 then however many clicks down for example if your combo was 1234, click down one next one click down two times then three times then four times. The other brands do not do this.

Great quality
I looked everywhere for a combination lock with a shackle longer than 85mm. I got two of these, the shackle's inside diameter is about 105mm, so are perfect for what I need. Delivery was a week sooner than stated, I got a message that it was being sent the same day I ordered it. The locks look to be a very high-quality product and they feel quite heavy. Also noteworthy is the fact that these locks are suitable for vision impaired and blind people. First Amazon purchase, so far I'm very satisfied.

Well built; but.
The shackle is 5/16" thick, which is too thick for a gym locker. The numbers on the four dials for the combination are 1/8" high, could be small for some peoples' vision. But this is a heavy duty lock so the shackle should be thick. The lock has a really solid heavy feel to it, it's well made, and beautifully made too. The combination dials stop at zero and have a definite thumb nail groove, the dials click into position for each number. So you can open the lock in the dark by zeroing the dials then counting the clicks to get to your combination. It's easy to put any four digit number combination into the lock. I'm pleased with the lock.

Good locks, simple to use
I have 4 of these now, love the combination feature. Less than the Master Lock ones but do the job well

Solid and Sturdy
These locks seem very sturdy and are easy to setup. The feature that stops the numbers from rolling back past 0 is great for entering the combination in the dark. Since I've only had them a short time I have yet to see how they'll hold up to the snow and rain.
