Monster High: The Ghoul Next Door

HATED TO PUT IT DOWN! : )
First off, the whole concept of the story in very creative, fun, and unique. This is a type of book that gets your attention because it's fresh, unique, and something new. They can be very intense if you are an emotional reader. You don't really have to love to read or like dolls to like monster high products. I would say that children under the age of 8 would probably not like these books because they might not understand the wit and humor about the characters. Teens over the age of 15 would probably not like the series saying that it is not cool or for little kids. I am 13 and love Monster High books. I even have a few of the dolls even though I don't collect dolls or anything. My friends think Monster High is weird or creepy because they are monsters. I think I like Monster High so much because I know what it is like to be different and having to hide my true self, being afraid of what others think. Being a very successful and educated black girl at my predominantly white school, I know what it's like to be an outcast. The girl that "acts to white" to be black and doesn't fit in with the white kids because I am black and "beneath" them. I know what it is like to feel like a monster because other people think my skin color is ugly even though I think it's pretty. I can relate to Frankie Stein because we love our skin; black or even mint green! I think many kids can relate to Monster High freaky fabulous students. If you are a parent reviewing these books then you might not can grasp the whole concept of the story and the humor and wit behind it. Let your own daugther or another little girl you know read the book and see if she enjoys the book or not.(Boys will probably not enjoy these books) I think Monster High is wonderful as a whole and I hope everyone get the opportunity to read these books. : )

Get your ghoul on
While we learn some possible secrets about the human Melody in this the title GHOUL NEXT DOOR refers to a TV special Frankie and friends try to come up with to turn around the monster hunting media left off in book one. Over all this book is far better than the first with several uses of Deus stone cold stare, Cleo Egyptian heritage; some new background on Blue's family and her being a transfer student, Frankie stitch together and other monsters and their traits. Among the new characters who get a lot of page time is Billy the Invisible boy who want to help stop the hunt for the Frankenstein girl who lost her head at the school dance. While the ghouls are still in hiding at school this book focus more about their life as RADS outside of school along with their normal human friends who want to support them. Even introduce to Frankie and Cleo's pets. Becca think that Bret preferring a ghoul like Frankie over a human like her has to be mind control and has started her own group of monster hater. Cleo don't like or trust Melody because she human and wants to do all she can to shut down The Ghoul Next Door TV product as well as convince her fashion ghoul friends to be in teen vogue magazine with her on their Egyptian lay out. Nice to meet Cleo family in this one as well as have shadow images of different Monster High characters at the top of each chapter.

Nice book,
The second book to Lisi's Monster High title was very good. The characters had their own distinctive personalities which set them apart from other characters, the dialog used made the story flow much nicer and the story plot was great. I'm not normally into these kind of books, but this book series has held my interest so far. Can't wait for the third book.

An Excellent Read
Monster High is BIG in our house. The book series by Lisi Harrison provides tons of humor and adventure for boys and girls. If you or your child is into monsters (especially the classic monsters), you can't go wrong with Monster High. This is the second installment of the series, and finds Cleo de Nile, daughter of The Mummy, trying to remain the Queen B, while her ghoulfriends fight the urge to be themselves.

Review of "Monster High 2"
I dowloaded this book to my kindle and I really enjoyed it. The book series goes on its own different path from the Monster High webisodes and movies. This is long before Monster High existed when the Monsters had to go to a Normie High School and do what they could to appear human and some things about the characters are different but only slightly. It's nice to get a different perspective.

Loved it
More excitement than the last book, but defiantly no need for most of the language. Other than that it was awesome. Mostly it broke my heart. This series, despite it's flaws, promotes equality and tolerance. Learning to stick up for others and stick together. I cried a lot and I am constantly on edge. I really want to meet this author, and the real life "RADS" of today.

A must read
A great story, truly electrifying,Lisi Harrison has truly outdone herself. The nicely written tale has lead me to think of theories possible answers to the questions ask in this book, but the lines drawn in this book and the last are so faded I do not suggest you read this book until you read the last book

A bit weaker than the first one
A bit weaker than the first one, I guess. I didn't mind the Mel's and Frankie's chapter but Cleo's ones... well, they were so vapid. Of course, I'm a bit older than the intended audience for this novel. I miss a couple of pop culture reference and that clearly indicates that I shouldn't even have started reading these books. But the characters are so cute! The Ghoul Next Door starts right after Monster High. Bekka has a compromising video of Jackson turning into D.J. and threatens Melody to make the video viral if she doesn't expose the real monster, aka Frankie. They come up with a great solution thanks to Billy, the invisible guy, but everything goes snafu and they resort to shoot a video in which they explain what it means to be a RAD. Of course, things don't turn out the way they wanted it to be.Too bad the books ends in a cliffhanger... :-( I don't have the third book yet, 'cause it got lost in the mail but I'll order it again soon. I want to keep reading the Monster High series.
