This bass has great tonal quality. I chose this for the price, as I hadn't owned a bass recorder before, but it sounds great. I can hit the low F consistently, and the upper register is getting easier to hit as I break it in. It's also very beautiful. The only issue I've had so far is that the C key on the left hand squeaks a bit when pressed. The others in my group don't notice it.

Got this instrument today. I have played recorder since 1968 and this bass sounds far better than some of those early instruments. This instrument has a full two-octave range, plays in tune, and the keyword is very quiet. Members of my recorder club are impressed by its smooth sound. I had thought about buying a Yamaha knick bass or even an Aulos but both of those instruments are in the $300 to $400 range. But, for this recorder I paid $189.99 and because I bought this with my Amazon.com credit card, I was able to use my reward points to get the instrument for a bit less.
