Works great
I've had this pool reel since June 2021 and have used it daily from early spring until early November. Works great on my 20x40 cover. Super handy when you're opening and closing the pool alone. I can open and close my pool several times per day by myself so I can keep it at 90 degrees without going broke 😂

More powerful than I expected. Retracts a heavy cover up and over obstacles.
Didn't expect it to have as much torque as it does. It can pull my 34' pool cover up off the water, across a foot of decking, and down into a recessed pit. Didn't really expect that to work, but it does. The remote control has good range; it reliably operates the motor 50' away from the antenna. The assembly instructions aren't great; you'll need to use common sense to decide which fasteners to use where. If you're handy with tools and have moderate experience working with them, you'll do fine. But if you're not good at reading and following instructions, you're probably going to have trouble. You may want to ask a trusted friend to help you figure things out.The parts really are all there. They really do go together to create a functional powered cover. But some of the instructions are more like general suggestions, some of the diagrams are misleading, and important details aren't described as well as they should be.Are you comfortable buying some piece of flatpack furniture from IKEA and assembling it with confidence? If so, you'll do fine.

Pool Reel
The pool reel met our expectations and works well. Makes it much easier to open and close the pool cover! The shipping was fast, and customer service was great.

Doesn't work for the 20 feet blanket as advertised. Motor is too week to pull that weight.
And read through the fine print. It says 15% restocking fees and you pay for the return of an equiptment that doesnt work from day 1. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Did not work for me ultimately. When it did work, it was awesome.
The customer service was great, but the system is very sensitive. Mine broke after less than 6 months and I sent in for repair. It came back quickly but was not repaired. Seems that this idea is still a work in progress. To flimsy for ordinary use, although the idea is awesome.

Works exactly as described
I bought this in spring and have been using it since then with a relatively heavy 20 X 40ft 12mm thick solar blanket.Works like a dream! No sagging of the reel, very smooth winding and unwinding. One person can open the pool in a few minutes and close it even faster. Also excellent support. I had a problem with one part. They immediately answered the phone and sent me replacement. Very good product, great value.

Not a perfect solution, but works as advertised.
I looked at the manual on-line while I waited for delivery (which was 3 weeks late), and concluded it would be a pain to assemble. It was double the pain that I had envisioned. But I managed, and could no doubt assemble it in a third of the time next time. All the manual steps were correct, but there could have been many more details added to ease the process, especially in the final steps of attaching the cover (straps, ropes, etc.). Also, for a device that costs this much, you'd think they could have added a few more spare screws, etc. in case you needed them -- instead of EXACTLY what was going to be used. Especially since some of the nuts and bolts are plastic, and are going to break with time and exposure.I gave this an overall rating that is higher than the sum of the ratings because as far as I know it's the only option that allows for adjustable height. The manual says it comes set at the mid range, but mine arrived at max height -- when I needed the mid range. So I had no choice but to disassemble/reassemble. Also, wherever you set it, it leaves a gaping hole for the elements to intrude, so consider fabricating a cover to address this. Pool Boy could have easily fashioned a plastic cover and some screws. And speaking of covers, there's a plastic cover for each stand - both of which are oversized. Because of this I could only use two of the three plastic screws for securing the covers to the stands. (So I guess I now have two spare screws.) But the 1/8" gap all around will be another avenue for the elements.Maybe I'll update this report after I experience some more run time with the reel. After a few uses I'm still learning how to avoid winding the cover up cockeyed. My wife loves it as she doesn't need me to uncover the pool using the old manual reel. But the quality control and attention to detail could be better.

Disappointed
Pool Boy II was installed, loaded with blanket and tested, and it worked fine. Less than 30days later, we tried to use it to roll out the blanket and it doesn't operate at all. Tested power to box, batteries in remote to no avail.
