Great File Storage Lots of Assembly
This is a great piece of furniture and is a LARGE file storage system. It is bigger then it looks like in the pictures and there are LOTS of pieces and screws. Open the bags as needed not all at once! The instructions are easy to follow but there are a lot of steps for assembly. It may be better to assemble it over a couple days, when you start you will see what I mean. I am very happy with the finished furniture piece.

Perfect as a Nightstand
Found this file cabinet after looking for a nightstand that was large enough. Nightstand tables can cost almost $1000 and this file cabinet was perfect and great for the price. The drawers are deep enough to store a lot of clothes. It is the perfect neutral color for my room decor and the piece is extremely heavy and sturdy. I would recommend this as a file cabinet or as a nightstand.

Nice File Cabinet for the price
I bought this because I had an older, metal filing cabinet that just clashed with everything in my office. The lateral style just looks classy. So, for $200 I thought, why not?The upside: the price was good. It came completely unassembled, but with instructions and screws, etc to put it together. The only thing you needed was a screwdriver. Everything was labeled and easy to find in the box. If I could put it together by myself, then the majority of people could as well. The wood (MDF) was very heavy and sturdy. Made well as far as that can go. It holds all my files and I haven’t had any issues with it since putting it together. And it looks nice.Cons: the wood scratches quite easily. Some pieces came in the box scratched (as in it wasn’t my doing). They are noticeable since it’s a dark almost black color and the unfinished portion can now be seen where it’s scratched. The instructions, though thorough could have been easier for the average person to put together. Not all parts were labeled in my box and that made it frustrating at times to construct. It all came in one box and that box was HEAVY. Some people (myself included) would need help getting the box inside your home before opening it up. More than one box would have made it easier to maneuver if you’re alone putting it together. All in all, I’m satisfied with the way it looks and proud that I actually put it together without any help. It’s a nice piece especially for the price.

Easy assembly and pleased with the finished cabinet
This took me about 2 hours to put together, once I had unpacked it. You do have to read each page carefully - some of the instructions are scattered around in detail drawings. But I found the instructions to be very good and everything fit together easily. Kudos to whoever wrote the instructions. I am a small woman and the only part that was a little difficult was balancing the finished drawers while guiding them into the slides. The slide, BTW, seem to be very good quality and up to the task of supporting the drawer when it is full and heavy.I'm pleased with the final product. Yes, it is all particle board and the "veneer" is some sort of printed paper/plastic but I had to look for a place where the printed pattern repeated to make sure it wasn't a wood veneer. It imitates painted wood with a clear finish very well. The final product is solid and looks decent. I needed a filing cabinet with substantial capacity in a room that does triple duty as office, TV room and guest room. So this doubles as my TV stand and I don't think anyone would guess that it is also a filing cabinet. Perfect solution for me.One hint is to sort all the hardware onto a tray or cookie sheet before you begin. Some of the screws look similar to one another but the instructions include a to-scale picture of the correct screw for each step. Pay attention because you really only get one shot with particle board - if you remove a screw and reinsert it, the joint will never be as tight as it was the first time. The finish is rustic looking, like weathered whitewash, with gray and cream tones. I put it against a fieldstone chimney and it blends well with the colors of the stone.

Do not buy this product
I understand that you get what you pay for and I went into this purchase expecting a cheap product but one that would be functional for a couple years at most but this piece is absolute GARBAGE. It did not even survive assembly. As has happened to other reviewers, the assembled top drawer slid in and immediately locked shut. A couple of of tugs to try to get it back open and the entire drawer face came off. The screws had pulled out with large chunks of the particle board. I'm not a fan of particle board for furniture but it's a fact of life when you want affordability but this material is below furniture grade.By this time I was frustrated but not giving up. I'm used to sometimes having to reinforce my purchases with a little customization. A few brackets on the drawer interior, while not attractive, would restore functionality and not affect the aesthics of the exterior. So I lifted the drawer out and 30 tiny ball bearings spilled out of the slider. At this point I knew I was in trouble. That is a situation that is not easy to fix.At this point I am very frustrated and coming to the realization that I have probably pissed away two Benjamin's. So I decided to to put it aside and consider my options. I lifted the cabinet to move it aside and the entire top surface came away from the rest of the unit. So that was it. Game over.I do not know how the manufacturer expects a product to handle the weight of two drawers loaded with files when it can't even survive assembly. Shame on them for using such cheap materials not even suitable for a shoe rack, let alone a file cabinet. And of course boxing it back up and returning would be more of a hassle than it's worth. I guess you could say that you couldn't pay me $178 to go through that. So I I've basically been scammed. Fortunately, not for much. So, you've been warned. Consider the negative reviews carefully. They're legit. And ask yourself if you want to put yourself through this experience. I recommend you keep shopping.
