Well made, great price and the addition of two bandaids was a real clear message these are very sharp tools.

novice to beginner here, i did not know that wood knots were a bane to hand carving with this set. it cut through everything in the wood but the nails i did not see; giving an immense control to what you are carving.

I have bought a number of BeaverCraft carving products and knives and always been satisfied. My most recent purchase was disappointing as the bowl gouge had a chip out of the edge within the first few minutes of use. I should have checked other reviews first as it appears this is a frequent issue with this product.

All in all they're relatively effective tools. They came 'semi' sharp...but tuned up quickly. Other than the sloyd knife, which has an overgrind (as pictures) starting about 3/8" up from the handle and continuing through the middle of the blade. The rest was completely dull. Sharpening was useless (other than making the other parts sharp) as the overgrind is the wrong angle and just tears out steel when used on wood. If it weren't for the severe overgrind...a few sharpenings would bring the blade into full usefulness in short enough order.The product was given to me as a gift, and the curved gouge and spoon knives are worth the overall price, so I'll be keeping the kit. I'm sure my sloyd was just a manufacturing blem, but it's unfortunate it slipped through quality control.
