Works to some extent, but veeeeeery slooooooowly and veeeeeery unreliably - Returned
Benchmark for scanning a mostly blank (white) letter size (8.5"x11") sheet at 600dpi.SCAN: 35sDATA TRANSFER: 4m20s (!!!)WiFi: 802.11n (42% signal strength)HOST: Windows 7 on 3rd gen. Core i5Like most other scanners with the similar sheet feed/insert mechanism, inserting a sheet exactly in parallel requires some concentration. The scanner works as a WiFi access point so that a host PC must connect to it over WiFi regardless of how it was using WiFi. This seems to be a common approach for this class of WiFi scanners. I am using a desktop PC connected to a wired LAN. I installed a sub-$10 WiFi USB dongle to set up a dedicated connection to the scanner. I am on a WiFi laptop to login to the desktop PC over Terminal Service so that the scanner next to the laptop talks to the remote desktop PC, not to the WiFi laptop. The scanner shuts down after a few minutes of idle time even if it is on a USB power supply. This is annoying because the WiFi connection is lost and must be reconnected to scan the next item. Usually, the PC's auto-reconnect restores the connection automatically, but it's only "usually" and not "always."The USB port is "Mini," not modern "Micro." It is only for supplying power to charge the scanner's internal battery, but no external communication. A PC won't recognize any USB device even if the scanner is connected. The PC software UI is very simple. Resolution is selectable between "Standard" (300dpi) and "Fine" (600dpi). "Calibration" calibrates the scanner with the supplied blank sheet. "Clean" cleans the rollers and the paper path with the supplied cleaning sheet (I like this feature). Manual cleaning is also possible with an supplied cleaning strip (good feature, too). There's no "Cancel" button for an already initiated scan process. So, if there's paper jam or something unfavorable, your only choice is to kill the PC app and find a needle to push the scanner's reset button. You cannot turn off the scanner because it is in a ran-away situation (the power button won't respond). Disconnecting the USB power cable won't help either because the internal battery keeps driving the scanner. Now I tried the scanner for production use to scan several vacation souvenir tickets, pamphlets, etc. Unfortunately, the results were very disappointing. The feeder can't handle items smaller than a postcard unless they are held in the supplied carrier/pouch. Even a business card sized item takes no shorter than 5 minutes to scan, if and only if successful. About 30% of my attempts encountered data transfer errors after waiting for 3 to 10 minutes. I spent 3 hours and got only 4 successful scans. This was enough. I decided to return the scanner for a full refund.

Works Great!
This product is so easy to use and great quality. I used it to scan all of our old pictures for my sisters 30th birthday and it was so simple and fast. The scan quality is great and really is very easy to use. You can scan directly to your MacBook, ipad or even phone. Made the process very easy. It's lightweight and easy to store away. Perfect for the price.

Would be a great product, if it worked better.
I returned this item. Set up was quick and easy. Sheet feeding was nice and fast. The connection wasn't good with my iPad mini 4, kept saying bad connection even though sitting right next to my device. When it drops the connection, scanner will stop mid-scan and you have to start over. Scan quality just ok. Lot of extra lines in the scan that aren't in the document. I had problems with the companion app crashing, also mid-scan. I was getting a complete scan about 1 in 5 attempts. I just don't have time for that. Appears to be exactly the same as the Halo Wireless Portable Scanner that I also tried and returned. The machine, packaging, app and accessories appear to be exactly the same. Other than the Halo is a different color and costs half as much for some reason! This would be a great product if it worked well, but it doesn't for me. I expect this technology will improve over time.

Only works 25% of the time
Let me say that I have sent an e-mail to the company for technical support. Either I have a defective unit or if this is the way it is supposed to work, then it is garbage.I can get the scanner to work with my iPad, iPhone and Windows 7 PC. And when it works, it works pretty good and meets all my expectations. It's very portable, love being able to use it's own wifi connection. And the images are pretty decent for everyday use. It's not a speed demon but for what it is, I'm not expecting super speed. I just want it to work all the time. Scans on the iPad and iPhone come in as jpeg files. When using with the PC, I get the option to save as jpeg or pdf which is really nice. The craziest thing is that the scanner only works around 25% of the time, which is ridiculous. When it doesn't work, it really doesn't work. I.e. it will be connected with my iPad and show the solid blue wifi light but then will give the message, "access denied, try later" or it sometimes will scan and show the full scan on the iPad but then show the error message "low wifi signal, move the scanner closer". And then the image disappears off the iPad. Sometimes, I can try to scan over and over again and after 3-4 tries, it will work. Other times, no matter what I do, it doesn't work. And about 25% of the time, it just works perfectly and the 1st time and continues working for the full scanning session.I have an e-mail in to try to work out the problem with the supplier as I would change my rating to 5 stars if it worked all the time, because when it works, it's pretty darn good.I'll update once I hear back from the supplier.Update: I received an automated e-mail that the contact person at the scanner company is on vacation and back when I'm on vacation. Then after only 2 days of off and on use (when I could get it to work), the scans developed a white line down the middle. I tried cleaning the unit at least 6 times and re-calibrated twice to no avail. So at this point I scheduled a return and exchange with Amazon. Thank goodness for Amazon. If I can find a product on Amazon, I always purchase even if the price is more expensive. Amazon stands behind what they sell. I'm hopeful that the new scanner will be good and my first one was just a fluke. I'll update again once I receive the replacement scanner and have a chance to play with it for a few days.

ION Air Copy Wireless Photo & document Scanner
Received my ION Air Copy on Wednesday and set it up to use on Thursday. Works great, down load is easy. Only problem I had was connecting it to wireless internet, after uninstalling and reinstalling it about 6 times I finally figured out the problem. I had to turn my wifi off on my cell phone in order for it to recognize my laptop. Works great after doing that. Great quality scans of photos!. I scanned about 50 photos with it on the first try and they went through! I am using this in windows 8. Highly recommend this to anyone that needs a small portable scanner,
