Skyscrapers sometimes seem boring - repetitive structures with little imagination. Yet the Empire State is elegant, beautiful, noble and iconic. This set captures all of that in an enjoyable build designed with love for detail, and with little touches of humour. The (equally iconic) yellow cabs on the ground are a nice touch, as are the "builder's treat" of escalators in the base of the model, invisible to all except those who built it. This is a lovely display piece, a fun build, and the clever construction limits repetition. The actual Empire State was built in an astonishing 23 weeks; this lovely set took me three leisurely evenings in lockdown 2.0, and brought a little bit of New York, New York's magic to a dark November evening.

Arrived as expected, great gift, great model of the building I was fortunate to have been up.

Clear instruction, it's a conversation piece,looks amazing with added lighting

A great Lego set this, had hours of fun building it. I spread the build over 3 evenings, could easily be done in 4 to 6 hours in one go. The booklet is extremely informative throughout. Not just instructions but the history of the building and facts on the little details as you progress through its construction. Now looking for other sets available, hoping they launch the WTC in this Lego architecture range soon.

Expensive but my grandson loved it.

My son and his nine-year daughter apparently got this (one of his presents) assembled without too many problems in three days over Xmas. No pieces missing. And without too many tears (from whom he didn't say). He loved it and is already planning to extend is architecture collection. At this totally unrealistic I suppose this this a another contribution from me -- I'll see if I can escape with a lighting scheme from the Empire Building.

What a fabulous model.. At over 20inches tall this is a Lego masterpiece. Once you get over the initial fixing of the base and start working up this set comes alive... The antenna at the top had to be made different from the specs because some pieces were missing but I had some other bits from some spares I had so managed to complete it. Overall I'm giving this model 5 stars all round it looks amazing when complete and I love it.

Beautifully engineered and a really lovely finished piece. First Lego kit I've ever bought and mostly impressed. An unnecessary amount of separate fiddly pieces for no other reason than to quote that there are over a thousand pieces involved. Many of the pieces used exist as longer complete elements in other kits I have seen so why didn't they cut down on these numbers and use some larger pieces? One piece was completely missing but it was an internal piece so I subbed it with a standard piece from my Lego collection. Worst thing by far was the manual. No issues with 136 pages but what was it all printed on a black background? This was confusing when more than half of the pieces are white, light grey or mid grey. I had to keep referencing images of the final piece on the internet to work out which of the three colours I was meant to use. This only took me four hours to put together but I reckon it could have been 3.5 hours if the instruction manual had simply been printed on a white background - would have saved the printer a lot of ink too!
