What a stunning collection of poetry with some unusual, clever, funny and sensual poems which challenge Western thought. I had read one of these in an anthology and decided to purchase this. It did not disappoint. It is political, personal and provocative. The poem about the washing line is one of the most beautiful and emotional pieces of writing I have ever come across.

Very thoughtful, nostalgic poetry that catches the experience of living as an immigrant

I am only half-way through this book but I bought three more copies for my sister and sisters-in-law. It is one of the best books of poetry I have ever read. I am curious to read Kahf's novel.
