Works with SSD, HDD and Blu-Ray External Drive
Bought this to try to have Blu-Ray drive from old desktop as an external drive for the new desktop, that doesn't come with one. Also tried with an SSD drive and HDD both work well. Only issue was extra HDD on new desktop was allocated D: drive letter, so Blu-Ray wasn't recognised. Once I'd given that another drive letter, the Blu-Ray work.I have a docking station for SSD\HDD and this is a much more compact, easy solution.Agree with other comments that the 12v power supply should be part of the package or a UGreen option given, as I have many items from the company that have been good products.

Hidden gem. Good quality for money.
It works fine. Is fast. Works without problems on mac, pc and with WiiU as external drive for both WiiU games and for vWii games (i have connected two of this kind with Crucial SSD for low power consumptions). It work like a charm. Better solution than pendrive.

Great little adaptor.
I've purchased this device twice now, it's well bit, it's always worked with whatever drive I've used it with be it Blu-ray, HDD or SSD, its even worked with IDE drives through a SATA to IDE adaptor and it even powers my Samsung 870 without a mains plug. For me I'd ignore the reviews that say it under performs, SATA 3 has a theoretical limit of 6Gbps where as USB3.0 is 5Gbps so it will never be able to push a drive to its limit, that's not a fault of the device but of the original USB3 standard. In my testing with a good SSD I get 4.2Gbps which is about right when including USB overhead (standards quoting peak numbers is the bain of computer technology), if you want to max a drive you will need a 10Gbps USB adaptor.Edit. The original one purchased in 2020 came with the power supply, newer ones don't even though there is a picture showing one, the text does state that it doesn't include one though. Knocked down a star for that reason.

Easy to use
I purchased this as i had enough of using docking stations that can corrupt your USB ports or drivers are messed up ..... I seen this claimed to be driver free and when i plugged it in i did not have " installing drivers " which is great as the more drivers on a pc the more problems .Not much else you can say as it serves its purpose , plug your 2.5" laptop hard drive in and you do not need external power but use 3.5" Hard Drive and you shall need the power supply just as any external hard drive or dock you purchase .One tiny issue if you have a large gaming tower you may need a USB male to female extension ,l the one supplied attached is not that long

Get a rubber doorstep.
Looks to be a well made item, hopefully it will still work after being launched onto my doorstep from distance.

Works with LG WH16NS40
Adapter was delivered about half an hour ago but tested it with an LG WH16NS40 Blu Ray drive and works fine (only tested under linux), You NEED to use a 12v plug to power the drive I already knew this from trying an adapter that I had laying around that didnt have an external power option. Iv tested both a 12v/2a and 12v/1a plugs and both work. I plan on installing libredrive firmware to my WH16NS40 so I'll update my review after iv tried that but just thought I'd let ppl know this works for that drive instead of spending 70/80 quid on an external dvd caddy. My use case for this might be a bit niche but hopefully the review helps anyone else in the same situation as there's not many reviews saying what drives adapters like these work with.Quick update: worked for flashing libredrive firmware.

Excellent low cost solution for managing HDD's
Needed to check the condition of two internal HDD. In the past I have opened up my PC and connected the HDD to the PC and used the usual HDD tools to check the drive. I looked at purchasing a docking station for HDD's to make checking and managing the HDDs easy but could not justify the cost for the few times I needed to check out a drive. This UGREEN SATA cable is an excellent solution which is very cost effective. It also does not take up any space and can be easily stored in the bottom of the toolbox unlike a docking station. I can also be used for 3.5 and 2.5 HDDS In my case I wanted to check two 3.5 inch drives so needed to plug in a 12V PSU which I already had.BE AWARE you will need a 12v 2 amp PSU if you are using 3.5 inch HDD'sI have only used this cable twice so cannot comment on the longevity but on both occasions the discs were able to be seen by the Windows based disc tools I use. I haven't used any bootable tools so cannot comment on whether or not the disc will be seen by such apps as Seatools or an other bootable disc manager.NOTE: I used the cable to check a disc formatted for windows and one formatted for Linux. Windows explorer was able to see the widows disc but obviously did not see the Linux disc. But as I said the windows disc management tools I use has no problem seeing both discs.UPDATE: Since writing the above I have used the cable with the bootable version of seatools and it has worked without problem. Its an excellent and very versatile solution for connecting an internal HDD to a PC for testing.
