Took a while, but it works great!
Purchased this to replace a Neat lost in Hurricane Sandy. Felt I was tied to the software with Neat and had no way to retrieve data if software was gone.I read the reviews here about this one and its competitors. Saw that many had trouble with this but took a chance as the wireless capability sucked me in.Struggled with setup for a few hours. I was able to connect the scanner to my laptop using the SSID built into the scanner, but then I could not use my wireless network at the same time. My goal was to scan directly from the scanner to my personal cloud through the laptop or any other computer in my home.Even though the software update check claimed the latest software was installed, I uninstalled all the software and downloaded the latest version from Epson. Still no success. Now I called Epson tech support. Level One support could not help: she was patient but could not get the idea that the scanner was wireless and had its own SSID. She moved my call to Level Two without my having to beg.Level Two was also patient and more knowledgeable. We got very close to success several times following these steps:1. Set the switch to AP mode2. Disconnect from your wireless network and connect to the scanner's SSID3. Here's where things get confusing. Using Epson Config and Epson Scan Settings, we were supposed to be able to replace the scanner SSID with the network SSID. While the software part worked, once we switched from AP to WiFi, the connection was not recognizedAfter several attempts, the tech asked if he could research and call me back. I agreed. While he was away, I felt that with his help we had made good progress and that the problem was now within my network. I switched from TKIP to AES security and made the connection. When he called back, I was happy to report the success. I tried the software and most of it works with the scanner wirelessly. Now that it is connected, it will scan to my personal cloud through my laptop.Software is good. Bizcard software database can be exported to Excel.Other software saves as pdf, doc, jpg so I will always have access to my data.I took off a star only because of the setup problems. But Epson was responsive and willing to resolve the issue.

Excellent and worth the price but for home use only. Not durable enough for an office.
Being a paperless office, I use a scanner all the time. When my Dell scanner bit the dust, I purchased this one as a replacement. Installation could not have been easier. Once installed, the set up portion connected to my wireless network without issue. I use Nuance's Paperport and Power PDF for my paperless document handling and was concerned that there would be a time delay in making Nuance work with this scanner. That was not the case. Once I finished the setup process for the scanner, I loaded Nuance Paperport and there was the Epson printer in its menu. Scanning went without issue and since this scanner is much faster than my previous one, I was able to scan in documents much faster. I'm happy with my purchase.Update 8/18/14: Okay, I am officially impressed with this scanner. I loaded a set of documents which included various sizes from check sizes to legal paper. Some of them were oriented upside down and some were printed in landscape mode. Not only did the scanner scan all pages without jamming, it also oriented them automatically without me having do do so through the software.Update 2/16/16: As of today, it is out of action. A loud clicking noise could be heard as I fed sheets into it for scanning and now the paper jams. So, something has broken in it and it is unusable. I'm ordering another one thinking that maybe it is one of those things that happens rarely.Update 10/26/16: This scanner, while a very good scanner, just doesn't have an acceptable life at all. The second one I purchased has died. I'm off to try another brand.

Faster than the Flash
This is the first scanner I've used. I'm using it for paper around my life. The machine is great. I was able to connect it to my windows computer and the internet in about 15 minutes total. It is blazing fast. It scans both sides of magazine pages without problems. I've also scanned newspaper clippings without wrinkles or bleed through from the reverse side. The machine is great but the software is clunky. I mostly scan to Evernote and that works perfectly. I've set up several profiles to handle my most common scans. I have a double sided scan to Evernote. I also have a single side scan to Evernote. A single and double to Google drive. It is easy and a time saver.I however, have been able to get the business card scanning to work. The software doesn't recognize the scanner for some reason so I cannot comment on it. I've also not been able to get the OCR software to work correctly. So you can see the machine is perfect but the software is giving me fits.

Great speed, easy to use
Very happy with this unit so far. The scan speeds are quick--including 2-sided scans--and the mobile app (I use iOS) is easy to use. The auto-detect features for page size and color work well, as does the ability to ignore blank pages. The document feeder accommodates a range of sizes as would be expected, and I haven't had any issues with paper jams or misalignment. The entire unit folds up into a compact footprint when not in use.The only small negatives (4 instead of 5 stars) are:1. you can't really go back and view/edit full scans in the mobile app after the initial scan. You can see a thumbnail of the first page and effort the scan to other apps but you can only view/edit within the app right after scanning.2. The scan files created are usually very large. This is because they're images, but there is no OCR on the mobile app that would attempt to create smaller, text-based PDFs.

BUEN ESCÁNER
EQUIPO BÁSICO PARA OFICINA SI SE MANEJAN VOLÚMENES IMPORTANTES DE DOCUMENTOS, AHORRA EN IMPRESIONES, COPIAS, SECRETARIA, MENSAJERO, YA QUE TODO QUEDA DIGITALIZADO. EL ESCANER EN GENERAL FUNCIONA BIEN Y CASI NUNCA SE ATASCA, SALVO CUANDO SE PASAN DOCUMENTOS RECIEN IMPRESOS CON INYECCIÓN DE TINTA, SUPONGO PORQUE QUEDAN HÚMEDAS LAS HOJAS Y EL ESCÁNER JALA MÁS DE UNA HOJA PROVOCANDO PARO POR ATASCO, POR LO QUE HAY QUE ESTAR SUSPENDIENDO CONSTANTEMENTE LOS ESCANEOS Y EN OCASIONES PASAR HOJA POR HOJA. CON TODO ES MÁS RÁPIDO QUE OTRAS MÁQUINAS MULTIFUNCIONALES. EL SOFTWARE DOCUMENT CAPTURE PRO TIENE SUFICIENTES FUNCIONES PARA ADAPTAR EL PESO Y RESOLUCIÓN DE LOS DOCUMENTOS, ADEMÁS DE QUE PERMITE EDITAR LOS ARCHIVOS DE DOCUMENTOS YA ESCANEADOS, QUITANDO Y PONIENDO HOJAS Ó INSERTANDO OTROS ARCHIVOS ESCANEADOS CON EL MISMO SOFTWARE, POR LO QUE NO HAY QUE VOLVER A ESCANEAR TODOS LOS EXPEDIENTES NUEVAMENTE.

Good product for the price!
Great product with easy set up and convenient set of settings. Wifi set up was easy on a Mac, and no complaints about the scan quality. The software bundled with the scanner is a bit dated and clunky, but it gets the job done. I have used various Fujitsu ScanSnap scanners for a few years, and I'd give this scanner a similar rating

Works great until it breaks - reliability can be an issue
This product worked really well for about 1.5 years / 3500 scans. After that, multi-page scanning failed. The issue is that there's a small plastic piece that connects the multi-page scan switch to the multi-scan rollers (to prevent multiple pages from scanning at once). This piece seems rather fragile and occasionally breaks. Despite this being a known issue, Epson will not repair it or provide a replacement part. If you want to try to repair it yourself, see ifixit -- they describe the repair procedure.

Very quick scanning.
Wireless losing connection and it is not easy to reconnect it.Because of that, using USB.I should really give it a ***, but the purpose of the product is scanning.

Top quality
Works excellent, folds up very compact when not in use. Really like the folded document scanning ability. Wireless connectivity is another great feature.
