6 Years Later, Still Amazing!!!
I bought this bread maker in 2019, and now it's 2025—time for a well-deserved review! This machine has been absolutely amazing.✅ Used Weekly, Still Works PerfectlyOur family of four uses it every week, and after all these years, it’s still running like new. No quality issues, no malfunctions—just reliable performance every time.✅ Great Built-in Recipes & Customization OptionsThe preset recipes are already delicious, making it super easy to bake great bread right out of the box. Once you get the hang of it, you can experiment with your own recipes. The kneading function is also fantastic—you can let it knead the dough and then bake it separately if you prefer.✅ One of My Best Amazon PurchasesThis is one of the best investments I've made on Amazon. Durable, easy to use, and incredibly versatile. Highly recommend!

The Ultimate Bread Machine - worth every penny!
This is one AMAZING bread machine! Because of the price difference and other people's review/recommendation on Amazon, I started trying making bread in several other American/Japanese bread machines (Oster CKSTBRTW20-NP, Zojirushi BB-CEC20BA and Conair Cuisinart CBK-100). I am happy to report that I have finally found THE ONE! I whole-heartedly recommend this machine - the results are night and day when compared to this Japanese one. The bread is very soft and of very nice texture, truly tasty, even the crust is very soft and full of flavor. The timer function makes it very easy to enjoy freshly baked bread every morning. I especially love the auto dispenser for the yeast and for the fruit and nut, which eliminated the complicated process of adding stuff and saves you waiting time. So, I normally just put all the ingredients into the bread pan, set the bread machine timer for the same time I wake up in the morning, press "Start", and I will go to sleep. Yes, it's that simple and trustworthy. This machine is so solidly built, it does not wobble/walk at the mixing/kneading stage at all! I couldn't help but wonder, if I never went through the process of comparing, I would never realized what a great deal I have missed. This one is a hands down winner! The downside is that, as it is imported from Japan, it is only with Japanese manual. Takes some guess work but I got used to it after the first week. The price tag is really high when compared to all other bread machines, but you seriously get what you paid for - a very high quality, super-easy to use, truly versatile bread machine with unbeatable performance. Worth every penny!

Excellent
Excellent. Bread is awesome. If I need to find something that is not good, it would be the sound it makes when the machine drops yeast (I may wake up at night), which is such a minor problem. That much this is great. Thank you.

The best bread machine!!!!!
I’m from Japan, and I can say that this machine makes the BEST JAPANESE BREAD!!! I bought a Zojirushi machine before, and it was a disappointment. It’s simple to use, and the best investment I ever made!!

Will be Confusing for Most Non-Japanese Speaking Customers
I bought this machine from the same seller as here (Premium Japan), however from another storefront. It arrived quickly, well-packaged, and in working condition. I also own another Japanese language (but smaller) JDM Panasonic breadmaker bought from Amazon, the SD-PT1001, which unlike this larger model, has an English language manual available for downloading on the Internet, as it is sold outside of Japan, unlike this model, SD-BMT2000 which does not have one available. This will create challenges for many here (as it has for me). All buttons are in Japanese, and their layout might not be what you expect, since it's not identical to their other JDM bread machines. One thing you could do is to download the SD-PT1001 (or similar) manual that you can find in English, and then compare the program diagrams (in 4 colors, giving the length and schedule of each function, such as kneading, baking, rest, etc.) between the manuals. That way you can figure out at least the menu numbers for programs you will actually use, such as "white" or "basic" bread, whole wheat bread, and dough settings. This machine has 40 different menus (compared to 34 on the SD-PT1001), and the menu numbers are NOT the same. From my research on this machine, Menu #1 is for basic or white bread in a 2lb loaf, Menu #2 is for the same in a 1.5 lb loaf, Menu #18 is for whole wheat, Menu #19 is for a smaller loaf (~1.5 lbs) of whole wheat, and Menu #27 is for Pizza Dough. What Panasonic calls "French Bread" is menu item 16, and a quick ("15 minute") dough only setting is menu item 40.You can definitely identify other menus by cross referencing the Japanese language manual for this machine with the English language manual for the SD-PT1001. Many of the 40 menus in this machine are going to be for things you would either seldom use at all, or are for things you will never use such as for some traditional Japanese food items a Westerner is unlikely to make.I have now made bread 3 times and made pizza dough 4 times. I had a problem with one of my 2lb recipes, for Honey-Mustard bread, that I make in other bread machines (Zojirushis; plus in 1/2 quantity in the smaller JDM Panasonic). This recipe came out of the book (now out of print) "Electric Bread. The dough ended up way too wet, and when baked the bread sank in at the top. I repeated the recipe and had the same result. I am thinking that perhaps the shape of the pan in this breadmaker, which is much taller than in my other ones, might have caused this result, or perhaps other ways that this machine operates caused it. I'm sure that this problem can be remedied by simply reducing the water content of the recipe, but be aware that this machine, for whatever reason, might require you to modify recipes you are used to using in other machines. I did not have any problem with the other bread recipe I used, nor with the Pizza Dough (from a Williams-Sonoma recipe I found online).Bottom line on this thing is that it is a very good piece of equipment, which may or may not be worth purchasing for you. It is well made and substantial, and very versatile, however may be versatile in ways that don't benefit you, such as its ability to make some traditional Japanese foods. Expect a learning curve and some frustration if you buy this and you do not speak or at least read Japanese. Most people looking for an expensive bread machine, who do not speak Japanese, will probably be better off and happier with one of the Zojirushis.
