Waste of money
I purchased this cleaner in hopes it would remove a water stain from my hearth. It was extremely difficult to apply evenly. Took 3 days to completely dry and next to impossible to remove. And the end result was disappointed. It didn’t phase the stain and did not remove any of the soot stains either. It literally has no effect on the hearth. It’s a very pricey product with no results.

Works well but not a miracle cure
Product was easy to work with and I found other reviews helpful for advice. It is true you need it on THICK. However, it is definitely possible to have it too thick in the mortar where it doesn’t dry as much as needed-it was tricky to get off in some moister spots. The product made the fireplace much better, but as you can see from the photo there is still work to do. You can actually see the outlines of where I taped the product (most of the overall fireplace). I’m still happy because it dramatically reduced what I need to clean by scrubbing, but my results weren’t quite as good as advertised/as other people had.

Amazing Results
Unfortunately I didn't take a Before picture because it was most embarrassing how sooty the brick was. I was curious about slathering on the product, letting it dry and then pulling it off of the brick. I read the reviews and then decided to give it a try.It worked beyond my expectations! I can't tell you how easy it was to use--the hardest part was giving it 2 days to fully dry before pulling the rubbery film off of the brick. I learned the following which should help you get the best results:-Use a paper or other disposable drop cloth to protect your floors from drips which will happen-Use 2 strips of "blue" tape so that you can comfortably overlap the product onto the tape. This is needed to get a "start" when you want to remove the rubbery film from the brick-Using a 3-inch wide "chip" brush, lavishly apply product to brick and take special care to get product into mortar lines-Add more product--it's like icing a cake--just keep slathering it on. Don't be stingy--generously apply product.-Let dry 2 days then pull! The starting brick was as black as the inside of the hearth because the fireplace doors didn't fit right and the draw on the fireplace sucked (as in didn't pull properly). Coupled with the desire for roaring fires this lead to heavily sooty brick surrounding the fireplace. I looked at other options to clean the soot but they seemed to be extremely wet and messy. This product was surprisingly cleaner to work with but still recommend a disposable drop cloth as you will not want to save or clean anything you put down.I'm having a chimney sweep come this week and have ordered a new and properly fitted fireplace doors so I will be ready for the first fires of the season.
