Great pedals - pair with toe clips for proper balance.
I put these on my more casual ride-for-transportation bike (I have SPD cleats/clipless pedals for my main "ride to ride" bike) and paired them with the MKS's leather wrapped half clips. The pedals are light weight, spin with ease, and I think look great.Because of the way these are weighted, the really do need to have toe clips to make sure they fall to the right position for the pedal flipper to be useful. Personally I find the MKS half clips ideal compared to a clip/strap solution. Since most of my riding is with cleat/clipless it is very unnatural to pull my foot backward to release when using straps. The half clips mean I can use basically the same motion to remove my foot from either pedals, but still have a firm support for being able to deliver power to the pedals on both the push and pull strokes.Highly recommended.

Light, smooth, stylish, ideal for commuters or tourists who don't want to change shoes at their destination.
As someone who rides the same bike on tours, pleasure rides, and commutes, but wants to be able wear any shoes while doing so, these pedals combined with the Velo Orange half clips are ideal for me.I tried the MKS half clips, but they were too short. After switching to the VO half clips they fit my size 10 shoe perfectly, putting the ball of my foot about half a cm forward of the pedal spindle. I did not like them as much with full clips and straps because they were more difficult to flip into, but with half clips the "tongue" of the pedal is positioned ideally. After putting in about 3 months on these pedals in harsh weather and on muddy, slushy, or otherwise wet roads, they still spin super smooth with zero play or grit. All in all this is a phenomenal product for the price for people who don't want to use clipless shoes and pedals.

It can be a perfect choice, if...
I am happy in fact pleased with these pedals. First off these are pretty much for use with clips only and in my opinion the only pedals with such an effective tab for flipping ones foot back in the pedal.Ok the good well these are well made and as a person who has destroyed pedals in spills the level of toughnessmatters. The flippers on the back i think are the feature that defines them.I did grind down the inside tabs as i have large feet/shoes, boots. Since i wear 14s i also needed B. Gordon toe clips the only ones i found that can properly accommodate my shoes or foot geometry. It is an unfortunate matter of fact though a few cycling products are made for larger people, well lets just say if you are over 6'1" or in the over say 240lbs you are going to have real problems finding products that work well for you. Good luck!!They are a slightly less wide pedal and this is made more pronounced by the more rounded off profile of the pedals. Another person who reviewed these complained about the size and more importantly the inside nubs on these pedals and i thought they were being over critical. I am still on the fence when it comes to these nubs and it all depends on foot & shoe size & s tread ect.. You may want to be prepared to cut them off or down. I have VERY large feet and use pedal extenders and had to find the largest toe clips just to have ones that work and i am accustomed to the task of customizing my bike to accommodate my size. An FYI for those not afflicted with large size or weight they may make larger framed bikes, but every other component of the bike is not changed to make accommodations.

As much a work of art as a great pedal
I bought these with MKS half cage clips for the bike I use for relaxed cruising. They are beautifully made, with near friction-free bearings. Set them spinning and they go on forever. If I wear my somewhat clunky size 11.5 (US) 2E casual shoes it's a snug fit but ok. With an old pair of spikeless golf shoes that are slightly narrower the fit is perfect. "Flipping" the pedal for entry is easy and the clips plus the patterned sole of my shoes keep my feet very secure even when pedaling hard. I feel I'm getting good pedaling efficiency and probably not giving up much v's the clipless pedals on my road bikes. I'd be very happy using them for an all-day ride. Plus, with the half cage clips I think they look really cool.

These pedals have really nice smooth ball bearings which really make a world of difference on a commuter bike when paired with half toeclips. They are relatively light weight and the lack of resistance thanks to the smooth bearings makes a world of difference in reducing pedaling effort. The pedal flips on the rear are always in the right spot for starting with the weight of toeclips keeping the platform nose down, which saves a lot of grief in stop and go traffic. A good pair of pedals is a serious quality of life improvement if you are a frequent bike commuter and I wholeheartedly recommend these pedals.

Perfect execution in design and function.
The bearings are liquid smooth. The tongue for flipping pedal into position is brilliant. Together with the MKS toe cages, these are awesome. I have size 11 feet and got the large the cages.

Get pedal cages too
A great-looking, easy-to-use pedal that's made to a high standard. I use these with MKS's deep-section toe cages to fit my fat feet. These pedals are top-heavy and only have one side to put your feet on; toe cages are an essential. Not much else to say, you get perfectly what you pay for with these so I would steer clear of balking at the price.

Decent pedal, if you have small foot
I mostly use mountain bike platform pedals on my bikes, which has larger area and pins for my foot to step on. These MKS Urban Platform Pedals has very small platform so my foot always want to slip off the pedals, the surface of the pedal is also very "flat" so does not grip my foot well. I installed MKS half clip but still does not help. I think these pedal probably works ok w/ person w/ small foot. One good thing is that the pedals are quite light weight and looks cool on the bike.
