perfect stone for refining your primary edge quickly.
These are perfect. Add a base for the stone to gain some clearance for your hand and you can sharpen a knife to a razor finish in very little time.

Reliable and solid product
Top quality and simple to use. The weight of the base makes sharpening much easier. I recommend this one to round out your diamond pad inventory.

Absolutely amazing! A must have for sharpening fanatics!
I’ve done probably 20+ hours of sharpening research and sharpening my chisels, and this Atoma diamond plate is the absolute best thing that has happened in all that time! The quality with which this plate was made is exquisite! It perfectly flattens my whetstones in no time and takes out those rough chips in the chisel very quickly. I’ve put about 15-20 minutes or grinding/honing on the plate and it still works just as good as the first minute. I’m super adamant that this is the best thing you could buy for your sharpening kit!

Pricey, but one of the best you can get.
Using it as a "coarse" sharpening stone to start with it. Reprofile the blade just in a few minutes, if not in a few strokes. It's really aggressive diamond plate and you have to be careful and to not ruin entire geometry of the blade. But with a little practice I've got pretty sharp blade on my old "dead" french knife even before step up to more classic and more high grit japanese wetstones. That what is thing disigned to do, to be a flat to the last, to be a fast and precise. Still not tryied yet to get razor-sharp edge just from this "stone" alone, but it's seems possible too.

Very Useful for chefs
I have 2 uses for this item - first, as a medium coarse surface to shape up the edges on my knives; and secondly, as a reference flat plane grinding surface to flatten my ceramic whetstones. It excels at both tasks! The 600 grit is not so aggressive as to remove whole chunks of metal from your knives, but it can shape your cutting edge, set the cutting edge angle and remove minor chips, giving you a good foundation to use finer grit whetstones in the 1000-1500 range. It needs no lubricant but water is a good idea to flush out the removed material. It cuts down on any raised portions on your whetstones, giving you a pretty smooth & flat surface requiring minimal dressing with a nagura stone.I prefer this to using coarse grit whetstones, as you'll do most of the hard work on this plate and reduce the wear and tear on your fine grit stones.

These stones are some of the best diamond stones I’ve ever used. Definitely worth it, if they are in stock
