XeroxDocuMate 152i Duplex Scanner with Document Feeder for PC and Mac

The last time I was using my old Canon imageCLASS multi-function printer to scan some work documents, its ADF was jamming frequently and the scans were scattered with dots and occasional streaks. So I knew I needed a new document scanner very soon. I was going to replace it with a newer multi-function printer. But after doing some research, I realized that if I want a higher performance scanner (heavy duty, higher speed and better scan quality), buying a dedicated scanner will serve my needs better at about the same cost. Besides, my Canon is still printing perfectly fine. The Xerox DocuMate 152i is the gift that addressed my scanning needs.The key features that I like:- It is rather compact so it saves a lot desk space; unlike a flatbed scanner.- It has a large 50-sheet ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) capacity. I have tried to feed it with 55 sheets without issues.- Handles both simplex and duplex scanning at about 22 to 25 ppm for simplex, and 45 to 50 ipm (1 image per side) for duplex.- Nice bundled set of software (best to download latest versions from the Web rather than installed from the DVD), for document scanning and very good OCR results.- Some older reviews I found on the web noted that the original bundle did not include any business card program. But as you can see from my included photo, you can download the ABBY Business Card Reader software to use with this scanner now.- The Visioneer OneTouch utility allows quick scanning with a touch of the button on the scanner with 9 preset scan destinations. Some customization and settings will be required based on your needs.- Included standard USB cable in the box for immediate use. However if your computer is equipped with USB-C ports only, then you'll need to buy your own cable (or a corresponding USB-C to standard USB adapter).- A reliable brand, with 1-year warranty, at reasonable priceAlthough the Xerox DocuMate 152i serves well for my needs, your requirements may differ. Here are the things to watch:- Best to scan each business card in vertical mode (place short edge side into scanner feeder), one card at a time. Also some thick card stock will cause jamming.- Not able to scan multiple business cards at the same time.- Scan profiles are displayed as a number on the scanner in a blue LED numerical display. There is no graphical LCD display to show full scan profile names.- If you need to scan the surface of 3D objects, than you need to buy a flatbed scanner.- Not designed for scanning 35 mm film like some flatbed scanner with film adapter can do.- Not the fastest scanner if you prefer paying more for faster OCR scanning and searchable PDF generation.- No Ethernet port like some more expensive models, therefore you can only connect it to a USB port and not directly as a shared scanner on a LAN.- No Wi-Fi or Bluetooth Wireless support built-in (not what you need if you require that kind of connectivity).Overall, this product is a solid performer providing all the functions as promised in a compact form factor at a reasonable price.

Just after I got it, they had an issue with the driver not being compatible with the newest Mac OS. Customer support was responsive, and resolved the problem within a few days. However, updating the driver did require them mailing a CD with the new software. Since the software is not available for download, it was a bit frustrating since not all our Macs have CD drives.That being said, when it is working, it works very well. Fast duplex scanning in color or black and white. Document feeder handles a wide variety of papers, from thin notebook paper to folded copy paper to photographs. Overall, we are happy with the purchase.

Great product! Fast and efficient and scans both sides. Unboxing / assembling - The box has 3 power cords, which include international power cords. The unit is heavy for its size; it feels solidly built. It takes a few steps to assembly to put in/out trays. Setup - the box includes a CD. Of course, typically no one has CD reader anymore. You need to download the software from Xerox website. There is no wi-fi so you need to connect the USB cable to your computer/laptop. The configuration in the software has a lot of features, which I don't still quite understand. However, to use, you can use the default setting. I was playing around it to see what it does. I still don't understand what LED # which goes from 1 to 7 - I think.Using the software - this is the simplest step. Just press "Simplex" or "Duplex" button. It scans all the sheets and saves it in the default folder in your computer. It is very quick. No jam. I was scanning my 2019 tax documents. It takes about 1 - 2 minutes to complete 20 - 30 pages. I really like the duplex functionality. If you are looking for scanning documents, this is better than the brother and HP multi-function printers we have at home.

This scanner is great! It fits all our needs for everyone in the family, especially for working from home and virtual school usages. There are only 4 hardware pieces to be assembled. I really love the instruction manual with mostly pictures only (no need to read thousands of words), that makes the installation super easy. The software installation is also simple, just a few clicks to get completed. Scanning documents is pretty fast - about 25 pages per minute - just like the product description said. I am also impressed that when I purposely put a sheet in with the wrong side, it does prompt me saying "Blank image detected". The software is user friendly and the scanned documents can be saved in different file formats. This is an amazing scanner and I will definitely recommend to other people.

DO NOT BUY THIS SCANNER!!!!!Have been using this scanner for 7 months and the first 2 months it worked well. Then every few days, I would get an error and have to reset it. In the last two months, The paper-port button when pressed no longer signals the scanner to scan and now the desktop application scan button is not working. I put 2-10 pages in(which it previously had no issues with) and almost every time, papers jam and system needs to be unplugged/reset. I have rebooted my computer, uninstalled the programs and scanner and reinstalled everything 4 times. It works for a day then fails again. I want to return this item for a full refund. I am so disappointed!Christine

I own two of these scanners. The first one I bought almost 15 years ago and has seen heavy use, but still works perfectly. Subsequently, I needed a second scanner bought a similar model from a different brand. It lasted about 2 years. So I went back and bought another Xerox 152 and I now have 2 in service for a long time. My only complaint is that I can't get the Simplex/Dupex Buttons on the scanner to work with the most recent version of Windows 10. Still easy to use scanner from desktop, though.

Compré el escaner el 28 de julio de 2018, en diciembre del mismo año dejo de funcionar ya no jalaba las hojas, le he escrito al proveedor y no contesta, contacté a Xerox directamente y no ubican el número de serie y no pueden apoyarme, dinero tirado a la basura, espero me contesten y cambiaré mi valoración si me ayudan con garantía o reparación. / lo reparó una tienda local/ sin embargo sigo opinando que no es bueno comprar Xerox ya que las piezas no las encuentras y tardan meses en llegar por ejemplo el alimentador de corriente. Contacte al proveedor y me lo cotizaron en 4 mil pesos y no le queda un universal. Les recomiendo epson

Excellent scanner and very fast. Great value for money. I have to scan clients' documents and saves me a lot of time. The set up disk and associated programs are a bonus.

Great scanner, fast, double sided. The ONLY annoying thing is that it has 1 pinch wheel in the middle and this can make pages scan out of line even the pages are set correctly between the guides. The Guides can’t fixed and are too easy to move themselves out of line too.Quality of the scan is great

Very fast scanner but It keeps giving problems- may need to exchange it!
