It does the job
I bought this for use with my Baun Series 6 shaver. Only use my shaver dry and to be honest, if, after each shave, I remove the shaver head, brush the shaving debris away, rinse it in cold water and when dry give it a spot of lubricant, do not really need the SmartCare Cleaner. The cleaner works well, I do not use it after every shave, simply do what I have described, but as the SmartCare Cleaner also charges the razor, I use the SmartCare to clean and charge when the razor needs to be re-charged. Even then, I prefer to brush the shaving debris out of the head before putting the razor on the cleaner stand. After cleaning, I think it is important to leave the shaver on the stand for several hours to enable the cleaning fluid to fully drain from the shaver head back into the reservoir. If I used my Series 6 for wet shaving, I would use the cleaner every day. As I say, I could manage without the cleaner, but it does the job and therefore I give it five stars.

4-in-1 SmartCare Cleaning Center
After some debate, I originally purchased the simpler (and much cheaper) Braun charging stand but quickly returned it as it was so unstable - my new Series 6 shaver kept on falling over! That is NOT a desirable feature....So, I bit the bullet and purchased this "Clean & Renew" device instead. It's what I should have purchased originally and, to be fair, it does an excellent job of keeping my razer both charged and clean.That said, it is a rather expensive device and the Braun original cleaning cartridges are extortionate. Worse, the instructions are, at best, poor. In mitigation, a charging adapter and a single cleaning cartridge are included in the price.I found a YouTube video on how to install the cartridge and how to use the device. It's pretty simple but not altogether intuitive. In use, the device is a tad noisy for the first couple of minutes of cleaning (as it runs the razor) but then settles down before shutting itself down when charging is complete. By the next morning, the shaver is fully charged, clean, dry, and has a pleasant lemon fragrance.A blue light indicates all is well. Amber warns of low cleaning fluid level and red indicates the cartridge is empty. A cartridge lasts me a 6-8 weeks. Alas, as I said above, genuine Braun replacements are very expensive (though you may be able to pick up a bargain on the "auction" site - but beware of imitations).However, there are a number of compatible refill alternatives available on Amazon that, with a few exceptions, appear to do an adequate job - especially those with a higher isopropyl alcohol content. I would avoid the water based solutions as, in my experience, they tend to leave a grey sludge and a wet shaver in the morning.Again, there are YouTube videos on how to clean and refill the cartridges - it's a simple enough process.In conclusion, the device keeps my razor clean, hygienic, and the blades well lubricated (thereby enhancing the life of the shaver head). An additional power adapter is included in the pack which saves having to swap things about while on my travels (I take my shaver but not this device with me!!).So, overall, I am rather chuffed 😀 😊UPDATE (June 2024)Amazon currently has a limited time deal of 6 (5+1) genuine Braun cleaning cartridges for a very reasonable £27. As these 6 cartridges should last you about a year, that's a very good deal - grab it quick!!

Braun Series 7 Shaver
I spent many years using a twin-blade razor and then in the last few years moved on to dry-shaving head and face with a safety razor. No cream or brush used.Was reticent to try an electric razor, as I bought a cheap 'import' on Amazon which was like attacking my face with bad garden strimmer.Eventually dipped in deep and bought the Series 7. Absolutely astonished at the result!For me, shaves as close as a dry-shave blade (with a little more time and persistence) but, the bit that really hits home, there is very little flare-up on the skin and definitely no more than when I shaved wet and dry.Fantastic product even though only used for a few weeks.For note: I'm a mid-sixties white guy with fair complexion and 'standard' beard density.Also have used a Braun electric toothbrush for the past few years and rarely need a scale and polish at the dentist.Even IF their products are made overseas, they seem to be controlled by the highest of German standards of production.Thanks Braun!

Overpriced and disappointing.
Very overpriced and probably overrated for what it is. Mine packed in after18 months-the power lead socket on the back of the unit broke, rendering it useless. I suppose it cleaned the shaver ok, but to be honest this can be done pretty well under the tap with some anti-bacterial liquid soap. Disappointed overall.

Does not come with charging cable
Round piece of plastic that claims to be a charging stand.Guess what, it is just a stand since it does not come with a charging cable that is exclusive to itself.It's a scam by omission.It also fails to perform as a stand since it doesn't stand.It does not lock the shaver in place, it kind of holds it but takes a lot of balancing cause it can BARELY hold the weight.

Handy charging stand for shaver, bought for my son as he had lost his charging lead for his shaver. Unfortunately this doesn’t come with a lead so still had to purchase but that’s me not reading the description correctly’
