Excellent idea for certain applications
I used these repair rings to reinforce several PVC connections where the original installer did a sloppy glue job (he didn't use primer), and the joints kept coming apart. I reinforced the remaining joints that were still intact. Hopefully this should allow the pipe to last much longer before they all split apart. Some of the reviews here are silly because people are complaining that these rings can't be used when the pipe is wet. Of course not. It is easy enough to turn off the main water shutoff and let the PVC pipe dry first. Some other reviews complain about not being able to get the ring on, but that's most likely because the old glue wasn't sanded down. First use some fine sandpaper to sand off all of the old glue until you see the white color of the pipe all around. This could take a while to do the proper prep, but just like prepping a wall for painting, you can't skip the prep work.I found that the best way to get the ring on after applying glue is to use two hands (wearing latex gloves), each hand pushing on opposite sides of the ring and then pushing hard with a slight rotation so it to snaps together. I also tried pliers but that didn't work too well. Be sure to do a test fit first, prior to using primer and glue, to see if it needs more sanding or not.I wouldn't use this as a permanent fix but it is a great product to buy some more time before there is time to cut apart the pipe and replace the entire section.

Didn't get the job done.
Purchased 2" rings for a leak. The Sch40 specification in a catalog 2.375". Plus or minus 0.006". I used calipers to measure mine and it was 2.380" which is in spec. The ring was very tight to snap on, and the moment I pushed into place the ring separated. Even though I could move the ring over the dry pipe, riding over the primer and glue was too much for the locking mechanism. Thinking back, I should have stopped and returned the item as defective because the inside diameter was not large enough to easily slide over the pipe. The product is a neat idea, put it failed in the application. I now have a butchered joint.

not sure about these
there were some great reviews and some awful reviews for this. These are not the easiest to use, hard to close them (I eventually got it shut). the PVC pipe had a little cement on it and the ring needs to be tight so you have to sand all that out. In the end, i thought this was, and the videos made it seem like it was a 30 second job. more like 45 minutes. In the end i got it to work. There are few of these for sale so it was expensive to get. I am guessing they discontinued making them.

It does not work
Yeah these didn't work. I was hoping they would. Perhaps it even made it worse. I even butted up three rings with tons of primer and cement. The leak still happens. I ended having to get some self-bonding silicone wrap repair tape. The other option was to replace the elbow and both sides of the pvc. Ugh don't waste your money.... save your $38.

Works like a charm
These repair rings work perfectly. They can sometimes be a bit of an effort to clip on pipe. That being said, I found using a pair of needle nose pliers helped. I was pleasantly surprised as to how effective they are. A word of caution, these rings are not NSPC compliant. Talk to your plumbing inspector if work needs inspection approval.

Don't buy.
This is one of these rings wrapped tightly around a new piece of 2" pvc pipe. I bought these to attempt to fix some leaky joints. When I attempted to wrap this around my pipe, I found, as hard as I tried, I could not get the fitting to get anywhere near latching. As I had waited days for these to come already, I decided to try to modify them to fit. I tried cutting the clasping area back a little. That finally worked on two minor leaks. I had a bigger leak that I couldn't get this to work at all. I ended up scrapping the inside of the ring until I could get it to fit (I had also, cleaned the pipe itself and used alumimum oxide sand strips to buff the excess solvent and glue off the pipe). As with the others I put on, once I got it to fit, you couldn't move it, it was so tight on the pipe. So, I had to apply glue, install the ring right in the glue area, attempting to get it latch with glue all over my gloves. After getting it glued into place and letting it set for hours, it still weeped out at one area. Now, I am just going to cut out the area and redo it.

Great product.
Wonderful product. Installed on a large leaking 2” pipe joint leading from my pool water heater to the chlorinator. No more leak. Did a bit of research before install so I ensured pipe was dry, cleaned pipe around joint, clipped the ring on the pipe close to area needed (This was the most difficult part) primed, and glued. Once i slide the ring to the joint, i held for 30 secs. The glue instructions indicated 1 hour cure time so i waited. Hooked pipes back up and no more leak.

Nice concept, but only in theory
Unfortunately, the product did not work as advertised. Although my PVC leak has slowed; the joint still leaks. Now that I have used the product in the field, I realize the problem is that you can't abut the Leak-B-Gone ring close enough to the existing PVC coupling to make a solid glue joint because there is always going to be old glue from the original joint that gets in the way. This product might work if you first painstakingly remove all of the old glue from the original joint, but that step is not found anywhere in the instructions.
