Great cable cutter
These cutters easily cut through fiber optic wire. These cutters are sharp and durable thus far. Although I have only been using it for a few days so far. I recommend these cutters for their ease of use and quality.

dainty-small with very soft cutting blades
These Ascend Tools ATi-804 cutters are surprisingly tiny. I have used and loved this form-factor of cutting tool for many years. And i was excited to get these since i thought they would be of higher quality and more versatile than my normal super-low-priced cutters. But these were disappointing in how dainty they were and also how soft the cutting blades were. These are advertised as “high carbon alloyed steel” which would mean the cutters should be incredibly hard and durable. But instead, in cutting a simple piece of PVC-coated copper wire, cutting through the copper wire deformed the steel cutting blades. Soft copper should NEVER win against “carbon alloy steel.” And the term “carbon steel” generally means no protective coating and not made of stainless steel and therefore these should be expected to corrode and rust if not carefully protected against the elements.I also tried cutting some carpetting with these cutters and there-again was very frustrated. The throat on these cutters is so shallow that the distance that is cut-through in each squeeze of the cutters is so tiny (about 1.25 inches) as to be laughable. So - after testing these cutters on carpeting, it looks like i am back to using my hawksbill knife for that. These Ascend Tools ATi-804 cutters should be fairly handy for small tasks where soft materials like plastic zip-ties or similar need to be cut. And these cutters would be great for someone with really tiny hands or for someone trying to find a cutter that takes up minimal space in a fisherman’s tackle-box.. But for most normal-sized men, these would likely just seem like a frivolous children’s toy.

Very sharp
These carbon cutters arrived very sharp and well protected in a plastic bubble-wrap container. The cutters are smaller than I expected, but they do the job. I suppose the smaller size is more convenient for storing them with associated tools. Even though I’m right-handed, I could immediately tell that these are ambidextrous, as they look identical from either side. The micro-serrated blade is on the bottom of the cutter, which is typical. The overall length of the cutter is 5.791 inches, and the usable blade length is 1.291 inches. There’s a usage disclaimer on the back of the packaging stating that this tool should not be used to cut metal. For some initial testing, I tried cutting a piece of paracord, which posed no challenge at all. I then compared them to a regular pair of scissors, and there was no comparison—these cutters were significantly better. I also had some leather scraps lying around, and these cutters did a spectacular job cutting various weights of leather. In fact, they performed better than some of my well-sharpened leatherworking knives.Overall, they’ve worked really well so far.

Compact and easy to use cutter
A lot smaller than expected, but surprisingly easy to handle, and good leverage for cutting.I installed some copper speaker wire these performed excellently. Handy lock to hold them closed.

Very sharp / nice and compact.
I've had a more expensive brand of these that seem comparable as far as cutting ability so far. I'm suspicious as to the quality of the metal used because it just doesn't seem like they will maintain their sharpness for long. I like that they're compact and easy to hold, though they may be on the small size for a bigger person. I also like that they lock shut, making them safe to store.

Works like a CHARM
I've needed a dedicated cutter for my optical cabling and this does the trick. Not the greatest build quality, but will be perfect for light usage.
