It works!
I have had feral cats using around my house and in my yard as their personal litter box for the past two years. They spray my house, and I can't leave my ground level windows open at night because I fear they'll smell my inside only cats and go nuts. I have exhausted all means to repel them (4 motion sprinklers, 1 sonic repeller) but they will not stop and leave stinking messes all around my property. In 2 weeks, I've caught a small female, and large male feral and this cage worked wonderfully. I had concerns the collapsible design would've left it a bit rickety, and that the part that flaps down might not be secure, but after catching what looked to be a 15lb very angry male cat, it definitely held up. The only weak points seem to be at the bottom corners where the trap flaps down, there is a slight gap between the flap and the sides/bottom corner of the cage. The large feral male was feverishly trying to use that to his advantage to escape but the cage kept him secure.I'd suggest pairing this with a large disposable towel or blanket so when you relocate whatever you catch, you can cover the cage to cause the animal less stress when relocating. Cutting a hole in it for the handle will pretty much guarantee that you'll not have an angry animal freaking out every time you make a movement around the cage after you've covered it. It also will give them a very clear way to exit once you remove the "pin" that keeps the back part of the cage in place.Would definitely buy again if I ever needed more than one trap!

Design flaws led to expensive return
I have been trapping raccoons on my patio for more than 20 years using the same trap. When a raccoon finally broke one of the welds, I went to Amazon to replace the trap. This trap has design flaws that prevent it from capturing the critters. The space in the cage beyond the trip mechanism is short. The animals don't need to step on the trip mechanism to eat the bait. They just lean their neck over and eat. To get around this, I tried putting a tall coffee mug in there with food. The raccoon must have just reached his paw over the trip mechanism and scooped it out. Also, the wire which hooks into the trip mechanism comes out easily when trying to set. It is not permanently attached as my other trap was. I cursed this trap numerous times as I was trying to set it - that danged piece would always come unhooked. Also when testing the trip mechanism it was hard to trip at times......other times it would go easy. Not sure what was causing that design flaw.So I fed raccoons for two weeks. I went to the UPS store to return this. Since I threw away the original box, the UPS store charged me $18 for a carboard box! I learned my lesson. I ordered Safeguard Professional Box Trap #54136 from a different seller. I expect this trap will last another 20 years.

The cage is horrible! Don’t get!!!
The cage sucks! Trapped a raccoon over night and woke up to the cage ripped apart. Didn’t even last a night. Recommend looking for another live trap. I’ll be returning this one and searching for a new one.

Problem with ferral cats/inconsiderate neighbors
We have a problem in our neighbor hood of people just letting there cats(and sometimes dogs) being let loose outside. Our family likes to bird watch and on many occasions, there would be cats that would come in to our yard and drive them off. The cats would also defecate or urinate in our gardens. We have contacted the neighbors that we know that have cats, but they would do nothing about it. We bought this to capture them and take them to the animal shelter after giving the owners several chances to take care of their pets. The overall cage is decently built, but could be a little thicker material. It is easy to set up if you follow the directions. I would recommend wearing a pair of gloves when setting it up, their are sharp pieces that would probably cause some cuts if not extremely careful. There are several videos out on the net on how to set up animal traps and what to use to for bait. Just be aware you might get a few other animals in the trap also. We also bought a pair of animal handling gloves to remove the animals when bringing them to the animal shelter. So far, four cats have found new homes since the owners did not want to go get there pets from the animal shelter.

Tldr: The trap works great! Easy to use, and it arrived quickly.
Story time:We adopted a sweet and moderately traumatized kitty. (Gomez) We get him home and he is TERRIFIED. The lady at the rescue told me he would probably hide for a few days. We took him to the office and he quickly hid under the futon. Lila (my 10yo) sat in the room with him and lured him out with a feather wand toy.He met the other cats with no incident. Everyone got along fine.He was so skiddish, but he explored the house. He hid under the cat condo, he hid in a turkey roaster in a kitchen cabinet, he hid behind the washing machine, and he hid behind the litter box in the bathroom. He hid behind the TV for a while and then went back behind the washing machine.I tell Lila to leave him alone. He's scared and needs his space.3 days later I CANNOT FIND THE CAT 😫 He's a super good hider and so shy. There is food and water in every room in my house of course, with MANY cats I have no idea who is actually nibbling on the food. This is the most stressful game of hide n seek ever. One week later.I'm finally convinced this cat has run away. I'm so stressed out - this poor baby is scared and he has never been an outside cat he doesn't know how to live on the street!!!I buy a trap (this trap to be specific) and we trap who I like to call "Not My Cat" we release Not My Cat with a belly of tuna and send him on his way.Somewhere between 1:45 and 6:15am we trapped Gomez! He's got a few scratches, but he's fine. We bring him inside and try to hang out in the office again. Everything is cool, but all the doors in this place are not quite right because the foundation is so awful.Sometime during the night he breaks out of the office and hides somewhere. Around 4pm I finally figured out HE RAN AWAY THROUGH THE DRYER VENT. I've got to trap him again 😳😳😳Mostly, I'm just stressed about how I'm going to explain this to the very nice lady at the rescue. I let her cat run away TWICE. 🤦🏽♀️Then Lila screams "MOM! Gomez is behind the dishwasher!" Hun?? Omgosh yay! She puts some food closer to him and sure enough Gomez is right where I thought he would be hiding!Umm.. Gomez does NOT have any scratches on his nose. We trapped some rando feral cat and catnapped him for a whole day - and HE ran away through the dryer vent.. or maybe he's still here heck if I know.Weeks later - this is a whole ordeal. When you google "adopted cat hiding" or "fearful new cat" you'll learn things like "It can take a week or 2 before kitty feels comfortable enough to come out." And "it can take 3-4 weeks for you to earn his trust."Gomez has been in the wall for weeks - we would see him in the kitchen with other cats, but he would hide again. Last week I learned about cat pheromones (also purchased on Amazon - I'll have to review them next!) and decided to give that a whirl. After a day or so we started hearing him meow. So I made it my mission to get the cat out of the wall.A few days later Lila says " Mom, I think there are 2 cats in the wall" 😳😳😳Yesterday we started removing pieces of drywall. There are 2 cats in the wall 😭We trapped Real Gomez and he is doing very well. Not Gomez stayed in the wall for another 12 hours before we trapped him.The happy ending is that Gomez has fully integrated into the family and Not Gomez was picked up by animal services to be neutered and released.
