No, the barrel is molded plastic and cannot be used with black powder. The gun is strictly decorative. I doubt that it should be loaded even with firecrackers although small ones would probably do little damage. RRW

Barrel is plastic. Also wheels are very loose- oversize holes. There may be better selections elsewhere. The illustration appears to be the one I purchased, but I purchased it labeled as a sailing ship cannon.

This is a heavy metal cannon on a wood base. It's very well done in my opinion and i'm completely satisfied with it. Definitely not a toy!

At what point do you per curve that it is the highest point?... Because cannons are either ' on the lay' barrel flat, or at ease' barrel elevated??... So could you please define between which datum points you require the measurement ??!!
