Q: If the magnet locks onto something too heavy for me to lift (like it hits a car at the bottom of the lake), how would I ever get the magnet off it?

I am a certified diver, so I strap on scuba and go look if it is to heavy. If you hit a car as your example is call sheriff or local PD to get dive team. DO NOT TOUCH IT, they will follow line, most likely you hit a crime scene, they will free your line and then you go about your way. I have hit a car with dead bodies. Dont have to be a diver, if it is that heavy; if magnet locks and you cant pull, I try to verify (dive, periscope, snorkel), then I call either sheriff, fish and games or coast guard depending on where i am...locally here fish and games for lakes and rivers will send dive team, once they secure it they will free magnet if you cant.. Handle it however you want to

Q: Does the tape in the bundle serve any special purpose?

The tape is meant to be used around the bottom of the rope to prevent snagging or tearing of the rope. Some items that are pulled up can be pretty heavy and can put a lot of strain on the rope so the tape is just an extra precaution.

Q: How do I apply threadlocker? Do I disassemble the bolt from the magnet and apply it inside and then reattach them or just apply it around the outside?

To apply the Threadlocker, remove the bolt from the magnet, apply the Threadlocker to the bolt, then reassemble it back onto the magnet. Let it cure for 24 hours before using and it’ll be good to go! It’ll harden up really well to prevent it from backing off and losing the magnet. 😊
