Seems to work fine so far after about 6 weeks in the car. No leaks. Good sensor, good thermostat.
Seems to work fine so far after about 6 weeks in the car. No leaks. Accurate Temp sensor. Thermostat works well. We found out that this housing was ultimately not the root issue.... The electric cooling fan was actually the root cause causing my boy's 2005 Mustang to overheat. We replaced the fan, and the problem persisted. Traced it down, and it appears the relay in the under-hood fuse housing got hot and the terminals are not making good connection anymore (the problem was intermittent). Ended up adding two cheap external relays and wiring the coils to activate off the ignition circuit so the fan runs whenever the key is on. Not the best solution, but guaranteed to work. But I will say that this product seemed to be good quality and I think it was a solid purchase for the price.

Saved the day!
True story. I guess after taking out the thermostat to do a flush, I tightened the screws on the OEM part, stripped the threads, and couldn't-t open it up again. Ruined. Called the auto parts and got an outrageous $100+ quote. I've already poured in more than enough cash into my borderline junker. Called the junkyard and they wanted $70 plus my old part. Forget that . I live in 2021. Looked it up online, incredible price (I was even skeptical). A few days later, I pop it in, and it works like a charm. Still can't believe it was such a great deal.

Not quite the same piece removed from my vehicle
Piece looked exact but had extra sensor mount hole. Thing puked coolant initially but I installed old sensor in extra hole and then all's good. Not all Ford's the same, I guess.

Not as described
Did not come with the thermostat sensor like it says and that is pictured. It ended up being the same price at the auto parts store and it took 2 days to get it so not worth it

2008 Ford Explorer - this did the trick
This was an exact fit for my 2008 Ford Explorer XLT and came with the needed gasket and thermostat. A few hoses to loosen and reposition, some bolts to remove, some maneuvering around wiring (check out the YouTube videos if needed), swap the leaking assembly for this one, and redo the above steps in reserve order, and finally refill the coolant - all together, this took less than 30 minutes and has proved itself over several months, 2000+ miles so far, and weeks of 100+ degree days. I highly recommend it!

Perfect fit
Great fit for a replacement of the OEM part. Love that it comes with the temperature sensor attached.

Great deal for a replacement housing.
I installed this in my Mercury Mountaineer last week and it's holding up fine so far. I ended up putting in a failsafe thermostat and took out the one it comes with. I also put a bead of thermostat sealant on the rim before I put it back together. This will be my third thermostat housing because the last two leaked. Really wish they made these out of metal, but I'm hopeful this will be the last replacement.
