Strong, reliable, perfect small size, gets the job done.
I used these packing cubes for a recent trip to Japan. My goal was to ditch the large oversized suitcases and use just one large backpack for my trip. It was a 40L Patagonia duffle/backpack. The size small worked great, and I used 3 of these Small sized cubes fully packed with an extra on hand. They fit in my 40L bag 3 across flat (with one tilted at the end). I then had about 5 inches of free space on top of the two flat ones for a book, headphones, and a small laptop. Plus some light space all around for shoving things in.I found it really hard to get a sense of size of various packing cubes, even with dimensions written. They are all too big it seems. Go small, and use the same size cubes is what I found works. I think 4 of these small ones might work well for a standard carry on suitcase also, which is about the same capacity as my 40L bag, but much more rigid also.As for these actual cubes. They are loose flexible synthetic material with some mesh on top. I found no concern that they would rip or tear when using, and stuffing full. Despite starting loose and floopy, once full they form a perfect rectangular shape. There are two zippers on each and they zip easily without issue. The zippers were strong and never came lose or showed concern they might. The mesh was nice to be able to see what each held, and was strong. For packing, I was following minimal "one bag" packing trips. I folded items to the width of the cube, and then tightly rolled each garment. By doing this I was able to fit perhaps 6 items in one cube. This mean 4 merino wool shirts, 2 hiking pants easily fit in a cube. 3 Undies and 2 socks, and running short+shirt in another. Jeans, sweatpants, and sweatshirts pack bigger, even wihen rolled, so that meant 2-3 of those to a cube. A final cube had a rain jacket and packable 30L hiking package, both rolled small. A few odds/ends could be squished in any of these. So 3 well packed cubes, plus small toiletry bag and some misc items fit easily in my 40L bag. And it wasn't a complete mess, but an organized system.

Makes packing easy
I love these packing cubes! I like to leave pants or shorts loose in the suitcase, but I put all my shirts in one of these cubes, undies and socks in another, workout clothes in one too and any other odds and ends. This keeps everything together so that you can lift one of these out without rifling through all your clothes creating a jumbled mess. You can pull out exactly what you need, leaving everything neat and tidy. I have some more of these made by a big name brand. These are just as nice. They are sturdy with good working zippers and the mesh lets you see through to what is inside each cube. They also hold quite a bit. They have several sets to choose from that include different sizes, so you have a lot of options. They come in a few different colors if you want to add some pizazz. I ordered the basic black because it matches my luggage, but if you needed a bunch of these you could order different colors for different clothing items, or different colors for different family members. These would also work great to store things like winter scarfs, gloves, etc. in your closet. You could keep a jacket and a throw blanket in your car in one of these. These are just all around really useful. I would definitely purchase these again!

Love these bags when traveling
I wasn't sure packing cubes were necessary or worth it, but when I bought one medium pack and we used them one weekend, we were hooked. My whole family loves having these cubes. We now have 2 sets of each of the following sizes - small, medium, large. They make packing and unpacking so much easier, and sorting each family members' items makes it so helpful when we're away from home. They're not compression, but they do conserve space. You can squeeze a lot in them, and they've held up well. That was a concern of mine when I got the first set, but they've held up very well through lots of use, with just one tearing along the mesh seam so far. It is still very functional and has not gotten worse despite being stuffed. They're worth it for the price and I would buy again in a heartbeat. I just wish all the different colors were available in all the different sizes.
